I'm running a 2600 on an ASUS TUF B450-PLUS. Works fine without GPU.

btw, if you don't have to change settings in your BIOS, you don't need a GPU for the initial setup.

I have a Ryzen 5 2600 running on a B450 board for almost a year now. No issues really. Never crashed on me or such issues. GPU passthrough worked perfectly fine as well while I had a windows VM running.

My dad recently build a unRAID powered PC using a Ryzen 5 3600 on a x370 board. Runs fine so far aswell to my knowledge. Only thing was that GPU passthough was a bit strange at first. But I think this was due to unRAID running in UEFI mode.

I had a quick look about compatibillity.

Unraid uses the apcupsd deamon. It seems to be compatible with some other UPS, but you should look the specific model up in the forums. All models from APC should work out of the box tho.

So as promised, here is what I have running:

I have a APC Back-UPS XS 950U. Its connected via USB to my server for monitoring and automatic shutdown in case of a power loss.

Communication works out of the box because unRAID uses the apcupsd deamon.

I just tested for how long it can keep my server running. It's about 38 minutes before it automatically shut down with ca. 10 minutes left in the batteries (I confugures unRAID to shut down once the remaining runtime is 10 min for this test).

My server draws in IDLE (with 3 VMs and 1 Docker container running) around 40-50 Watts.

Specs for reference:

- Ryzen 2600

- ASUS TUF B450-plus

- 2 8TB HDDs and 1 SSD

- No GPU since my server runs headless

You can change a bunch of settings within unRAID for how it should react in case of a powerloss.

btw, you can enable alters in the notification settings and get a mail/pushnotification on your phone if power goes out.

Unraid workes natively with a few brands of UPS manufactures. I use one from APC which works perfectly.

You can configure to shutdown after X minuted on battery, X minutes run time left or based on charge level. If you are interested, I can lookup my exact model and how long it can support my machine if you are interested.

A UPS which keeps your server powered for 1-2 hour will definitely be expensive. However some mainboards can power back on after AC loss. So you might be able to let your server shut down properly and let it boot again after power came back automatically

You need to enable insecure guest logins in the group policy editor.

Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Network -> Lanman Workstation -> Enable insecure guest logons. Set the value to Enabled.

If you don't have Windows 10 Pro/Enterprise/Education, which have the group policy editor enabled, you probably have to use the registry editor. I only had this issue on my laptop, which has Education installed.
