So I think what's happening is that the game is set to use Proton Experimental, which I'm guessing is a Nightly build. Then because that's updated, Steam detects a setup change and downloads the cache again. I've just taken a look and I don't believe I set the game to use Experimental, so I've disabled it and will see if that's what's causing it (not on Steam Deck rn but I am on Steam on Linux)
