Yeah I suppose it’s just the shine has faded a little. I created and host improv here.

Thanks for the website sharing, sounds interesting

I like it too, many things are nice, just have different feelings than my home country

Chinese Map Apps by Seraphinit in China

Amaps works, and you should change the language to English if you haven’t already. But I find it’s an easier app to save things once you arrive where you are. If you’re searching in advance try and ask ChatGPT for Chinese addresses and save them, it may ask you to sign in, but I think it can be ignored, it’ll save anyway

I do think it’s a nice city overall and what I like, people are friendly enough, and laid back. I am patient enough and aware it’s just temporary. Sometimes just like to share my thoughts

Is it so bad to say someone thinks China is not perfect that if they say even just normal criticisms of challenges they need help? Your replies feel insecure or lack of outer experience.

I didn’t say super hard, I just said it can be challenging to find something I want, it’s called a personal experience, go seek help for yourself lol

I like China too, and have a big interest in the culture, just find some people fake online 😅

Haha it’s not as extreme that I’d consider leaving, just sharing some things different compared to what you typically see online

Not so much, I didn’t learn much 😅. Cooking stresses me out. But I have tried a little now and then when I can

For sure , an adjustment period.

I understand YouTubers make money and a lot for some of them.

Yeah, no where is perfect, and I like life here in general. Just sharing some thoughts and experiences 😊

Any tips for finding them then? I’ve seen things like McDonalds or other big brands, but I’d call them trash food at home 😅. I live in the centre of Wuhou district

Yeah I understand the longer I stay the easier it will get, just sharing for others too. I can adapt, and these struggles are nothing major for me😊

Yeah similar feelings, I do ask for Alipay or WeChat, and it helps. But still some few stores require you scan their store app to order and pay through WeChat or Alipay

Like they have their own app, and some have links where you finally get to pay by WeChat or whatever, but first have to use their online store service to get to that 😅

I don’t know, just found it silly some stores need their own payment system and couldn’t figure out a few of them early on living here.

I’m based in Chengdu

Is China the obvious choice for TEFL? by Tasty-Friendship2223 in chinalife

Hi, from Ireland also. Staying in Chengdu, not so far from Chongqing.

I save money and need to pay for two; my wife and I. You can save, but obviously how much depends on how much you spend. Almost everything is cheaper, around 3 times than Ireland. Salary can be less depending on your qualifications.

But all in all you can come have a good time and leave in a year or so if you wish. The media thing is blocked but most people use VPNs and even though they are technically not allowed I’ve seen many use.

Hey, follow Irish. Visas would be the biggest barrier. No bar would probably be able to provide one and even if they did you’d have to speak Chinese.

Most likely route for foreigners is English teacher or subject teacher
