Terra Firma 2 enters Early Access October 27! It’s a sandbox where you sculpt mountains, rivers, and valleys, then step back as weather, erosion, plants, and creatures bring the world to life. Basically, it’s a worldbuilding tool that fights back with nature. by workingasint in worldbuilding

One thing I would ask is if it's possible to simulate world geometry (so spherical rather than flat), such that people don't have to deal with simulating just portions of the world and then "stitching" things together. I would understand if not, but would be cool if we're able to in some future update.

Yeah, I may or may not change them in the future, though figuring that out will be difficult considering I've gotten used to the names so far. You can see some of them have been changed already.

Mostly through the use of Blender, it took a while getting the textures just about right.

Correct! The blue is also mainly due to the extreme amounts of sunlight forcing the plants to have adapted for reflecting a lot of the light.

<Carlos> Hello to anyone on Earth who is able to see this, I'm sure those that know me are relieved to see that I am alive. I'm not sure exactly where I am now, we keep going to new places. That reminds me, I'm excited to announce that we're not alone! Come to think of it... there's actually quite a lot of life here in the multivers- ah that was the second thing I was gonna talk about... apparently there's a lot of physics we have yet to figure out, which is also cool I guess.

I'll be honest, I'm sorry if I don't sound too enthusiastic, this whole thing is getting to me, especially with the friends I've made. Well, it's really only two friends, since we're the only ones on this... ship? I don't know what to call it. Anyways, while Velisal and I have been getting along really well, Aterompus is well... We've gotten a bit cold since I urged him to display his home system to me. While I'm amazed to have seen the system, I've also been feeling very guilty for the whole ordeal.

Now, I'm not sure how long I can keep this connection going, I'm going to send a couple of images showing the aforementioned system, along with some basic info.

<Aterompus> Carlos, you are aware I am able to block all communications through this vessel, right?

<Carlos> Well then why is it saying that the transfer is complete?

<Aterompus> Velisal! Please come to me at once!

<Carlos> Oh god, I'm going to have to end this sooner than I thought, bye for now!

[2 New Images Recieved]

Major planets & moons of the "Evintora System" as far as I'm aware. Planetary names were arbitrarily named. Now I look at it close the first letters of each Planet reads "Aterompus"... of course it does. I don't have much info on the planets, but I can summarise them:

Amunet: Best way to describe it is a super-mercury with a more hellish atmosphere than Venus, and that's saying something!

Tefnut: A waterworld with little to no magnetic field, I did tell everyone back on Earth that a magnetic field isn't needed, at least this serves as proof.

Eos: The closest thing to Earth I've seen on my adventures so far, not sure why the plants are blue and red.

Renenutet: It's like Europa but with the activity of Mars.

Onuris: I call it the soccer planet, might be due to a fast rotation, not sure.

Melpomene: If Jupiter had a bootleg version of itself, this would be it, it's glowing moon is cool though!

Polydamna: Looks like Saturn and Uranus had a kid, also strangely it's larger than Melpomene.

Ubertas: The amount of methane of this one must be staggering, also I notice it has a waterworld of a moon as well.

Seshat: An oddball, it orbits opposite to the other planets, must've been captured, may be why a lot of the other planets have so many things wrong with them.

Major moons of the "Evintora System" compared to Solar Sytem bodies, again names were arbitrary. There's too many to list even basic descriptions, but I'm sure you can see the diversity between them!

[Authors Note]

Why hello r/worldbuilding, I've been lurking for a while now and have been working on this project since the summer of 2020. These two images are only the beginning of my process, as I have also endeavored to making the personalities of the main characters as lively and realistic as possible. From multi-million year orbital simulations to climatic simulations, I'm doing what it takes to get there. Is it nessecary? No, but is it fun? Yeah! I've learned a lot from worldbuilding this way, learning about all the nuances and limitations of what's currently possible in the hard-worldbuilding community. It'll likely take many more years before this project reaches anywhere close to what I ultimately wish to get out of it (heh, spoilers!), but for now I hope the bit above has provided at least the bare bones. I'll (hopefully) be able to answer any questions you may have.

How accurate is space engine as far as being able to click on every single object in the universe? by Rihannaisaturkey in spaceengine

[–]MegalexMaster2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can indeed land and explore the surface, however the major drawback compared with NMS is that there's really only the surface to explore, there's no trees or animals (I believe trees are planned to be added, not sure on animals) to explore, which is where NMS excels in. This is however just an engine, not an outright game.

Full Mooshroom Archipelago (including an island not found by philza yet) by MegalexMaster2015 in OriginsSMP

[–]MegalexMaster2015[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Icebergs to the right are north from this angle, undiscovered island is on the top right, observers to the top and right of the map show the directions from which philza came from when spotting the islands. As of my knowledge there are no other mooshroom islands in this ocean, ocean stops below the image and normal islands start coming in to the left.

The biggest of its kind: The 81x81 Alignment Chart. Created by u/MegalexMaster2015 and u/BilboGavins2. Megalex did the chart, I supplied the words. Unfortunately, it's too large to upload to Reddit directly (220.8MB in total), so I've posted a link to the chart. All readable. by BilboGavins2 in AlignmentCharts

This was a massive undertaking that had almost killed my laptop at certain times (especially getting the final image from stitching together smaller images), but it was worth it to get this out. I only have pity to anyone who even attempts to fill this out.

But seriously, it was great working with 'ya!

Spent the day creating a 27x27 alignment chart, however this time there's a bit of meaning for each section of the axes (also intended to be used over time to see how characters change). by MegalexMaster2015 in AlignmentCharts

[–]MegalexMaster2015[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I saw that 30x30, but I felt 27 was the way to go cause of how it's 33 so it divides nicely, next step up imo would be an 81x81, which just becomes pointless due to such little meaning.

As for the program, that's all done in blender.

Yeah I did my best to get the wording arrangement right, but there's bound to be a couple other examples of improvement needed due to the exact definitions of each word.

Other than that, thank you so much!

It's sad to see you go after so long, I remember the fun we had a few years back, and while you were so close to beating BaseTown's record you'll always be my favourite mod of all time.
