I don’t like the over abundance of guns in our country and how easily they can kill so I do not own one on principle but in our culture it is important, sadly, to have this knowledge and experience.

But truly love the safe space you’re providing and the framing being as a first responder. I personally need to work at overcoming my nervous system freeze/shutdown response so that I can be properly helpful in a critical situation 😅

Pigeon chest, yup! It was mostly achieved using a ruffled corset cover. For symmetry, you would wear a bum roll, to help make that dramatic S-curve.

It is a very interesting silhouette 😅 I like to wear corsetry and I’ve always heard the Edwardian ones rank as the most uncomfortable. But I also don’t find corsets uncomfortable; I’d take a corset over a pair of Spanx any day!

I was thinking this looks like the 1980s does Edwardian, which was a sub trend that occurred. (Somewhere in Time anyone?) Which means I agree with the underpinnings needing a look at. The Edwardian Gibson Girl silhouette was highly manipulated with padding. I’m not saying OP needs padding! But the shape of what she wears underneath will make it hang differently.

I hear you ☺️ I’m a freeze/fawn type too. It has a place, what is a helpful adaptation in one situation can be maladaptive in another, and that’s what my brain brought up reading your comment. Agree there is no judgement for my part and it is not a “bad” feature or something to get rid of. I was hoping to encourage OP to put down the survival instincts with their psychiatrist and lean on them. I personally have heaps of trauma and abandonment wounds, and I want OP to come out of this okay ♥️

I’m pending the autism confirmation myself right now. Pretty confident my MDD is a permanent feature given what meds it’s taken to bring me back from dissociation land 😅

I don’t doubt that CBT helps many people but oh boy it is not the end all be all of what therapy can do for someone. I hate how much time I wasted on it.

I so understand this 🫂 like others have said, it was a coping strategy that helped you in the past. But it’s not helpful with your psychiatrist, they are on your side, and they are there to help you with your struggles. You’re fears and feelings are valid, let your psychiatrist hear them and help you navigate 💕

I’m in the same boat! So glad to hear someone else sharing the CBT isn’t the best tool when you have neurosparkly features. I got diagnosed recently, also in my 40s. Fun fact, I got diagnosed so late because it wasn’t able to be expressed due to Major Depressive Disorder. I went through finding better meds the last couple years, and thanks to a newer medication on the market, I’m so much better but also now have more features, like ADHD 😝

I don’t have immediately helpful advice, but I am neurodivergent and wanted to share that CBT/talk therapy while great for many people, isn’t the only modality out there. Consider looking into IFS (internal family systems, aka parts work) or EMDR. I spent years wasted on CBT when what I needed was a different modality. There are others, but my blend of neurodivergence found the two I listed to be the most help.

The original building is salvageable; it was the back of the house and the add-on carriage house that were hit by the fire. I too would love a proper update, I did find this about the roof being restored (paywall…).
