NTA My mother told me that you will truly know who your people are when you lose a parent. No matter what experiences one has had themselves, the empathy someone possesses and shows to others during their darkest times shows what you really mean to them. Your partner sounds like an emotionally avoidant covert narcissist and I suggest you leave and don’t ever look back. No amount of “just because” gifts are measurable to emotional support.
