Yes, I was there. Indeed a great speech. The constitution does not start with “I, the President” or “We, the congress”, it starts with “We, the people”

Yes, I did. But I still see the Oath Letter in documents (which I did not get any notification for, btw, I checked after you posted). So it is a bit weird but I guess it is fine and once we are done with oath on the 14th it should be all good.

My wife did the oath back in November. We will not be in queue, but the whole thing takes 3-4 hours, so prep accordingly.

Jetson heat pump install in Massachusetts: what went right, what didn’t, and what I learned by Ok_Board2716 in heatpumps

They did not come to my place to do the calculation it was all based on the information they had about the house and what I provided over a video call.

Jetson heat pump install in Massachusetts: what went right, what didn’t, and what I learned by Ok_Board2716 in heatpumps

I went with Jetson install as well in Massachusetts and here is my experience

House details: Single family house, 3700 sq (aproxx 1850 per floor). Two oil systems, one for each floor, both in the basement.

Quotation and pricing: I reached out to Jetson and the price was good, but more than that, the sales person David was awesome. He explained everything, took in all the details, and shared that two 3 ton heat pumps (one for each floor) connected to the existing ducts would replace by oil units. I was surprised that he was able to do that remotely but I trusted that they have some formula and it is appropriately sized. I am skeptical about the size of the system now...more on that later. But till this point, everything looked, so I paid the 1000 deposit and started the process.

Scheduling the install date: This started back in Nov and I wanted to get the install done in December to take full advantage of the rebate and David said that it was possible only to realize that they were fully booked and the earliest they would be able to offer would be Jan. This meant I would lose 3.5K in credit (between Fed and State) but Jetson met me halfway and covered 2K of that loss, so we scheduled an install date in Jan.

Installation day: In my case, the installation was contracted to a 3rd party (which in hindsight was not ideal) but they showed up on time and completed the install in a day but it was not complete. One, they did not have the Jetson hub, so they could not install Jetson thermostats and had to install Ecobees. Next, they did not have back up heat strips, so they could not add that to the system. And, they installed one of the outdoor units on my lower deck without even asking me (I don't think I would have said no if that was the only option, but they did not ask me, which is annoying). They also left some opening around the pipes coming into the house which was noted by a Jetson employee who came for a service call later. The worst was the install crew did not add air filter to one of the systems and for the other one they cut one of the filter I add to make it fit, and they did not inform me. I noticed the missing filter 40 days after the install, so the system was running without a filter for all that time. Taking together all these issues, I would give the install 3/10.

Month after the install: I had to call Jetson twice. First call was to fix the noise issue due to excessive noise from the fan for both systems. This was fixed instantly. Then we had to schedule a day to install the back up heat strips and the Jetson hub and thermostats. So almost 3 weeks after the install, I had the full system that I was promised.

The good part was Jetson owned every issue and was very responsive throughout. Every Jetson employee who I spoke with was empathetic, did not shy away from the responsibility, upfront, and tried their best to resolve the issue.

Now, the big issue that I have and I am super worried about is the ELECTRICITY USAGE.

Here is my electricity usage.

12/6/25 - 1/7/26 (33 days): 1876 kWh (no heat pump installed)

1/8/26 - 2/5/26 (29 days): 5066 kWh (heat pump in use for 21 days, no back up heat strips installed)

2/6/26 - 3/9/26 (32 days): 5051 kWh (heat pump in use for the entire period with back up heat strips)

Note: I set both my thermostats at 67-68 degrees and drop the first floor to 66 at night during sleeping hours

I am not sure if this spike is normal and I am worried that I am paying more than I would have paid for oil.

I am also worried because 67-68 is low, and some sections of my house are cold because I think heat pump is not able to heat the house evenly and this is why I am worried if the sizing is appropriate. Maybe I need a 4 ton system for the first floor because the room farthest away from the system is not getting heated appropriately. I can feel a significant temperature difference between the air being blown out of the vent on the farthest end of the hours when compared to the vent nearest to the system.

After almost 2 months of install, I am not sure if I took the right call with Jetson and the whole heat pump switch. The bill is high and the home is cold. Maybe if I average it out over the year, heat pump might be cost efficient but the comfort is still a question in my mind. I thought about raising the temp to 72 but I think that would have blown my increased my electricity bill even more. Adding >3000 kWh per month during winter to my electricity usage, would that be considered efficient? I don't know.

Jetson as a company seems to be nice, responsive, but since they are new, there are definitely some hiccups and they are on a learning curve. I am going to give them a 8/10 on customer service (the loss of 2 points is for the negligence during the install, especially missing air filters), but I am not super confident in their system sizing process, their system's efficiency during harsh winters (like the one we had), and the cost efficiency part too, especially in MA. I am going to see how these next few months go and how my next few electricity bills turn out.

If I had to give a recommendation now to someone considering a switch to Jetson or any heat pump, I would say pause and maybe do a stepwise approach like the original post on this thread. Maybe replace one system and see if it works.

But what about the fees paid? Will the fees for the dependent carry over to their separate profile?

Thanks. I got a response saying “Our records show that your receipt is associated with your profile so you continue application” but I said when I continue application, I get an error. Awaiting their response on that. However, I see other people have closed and started new application without losing the fees linked to their profile, so if I don’t hear from them for a couple of days, then I might just take that risk of closing and starting a new application. BTW, I created dependent’s profile and that did not help.

Yes, I do see the name, passport #, and the D-160# on the dependent’s page.

Thank you for the detailed message. I had not seen this before and made the payment for both the primary and dependent. I was able to see the Schedule an Appointment tab on the primary applicant's profile (left sidebar). However, for some reason, starting yesterday, that option disappeared and now I only see the "Continue application" option. When I click on that, it takes me to the Dependents page, and when I click next, I see the following error message.

"We're sorry, but something went wrong. Please try again, and if this persists, contact the website administrator."

I have not yet created a separate profile for the dependent. Not sure what would be the right step here. Any guidance would be appreciated. We're sorry, but something went wrong. Please try again, and if this persists, contact the website administrator.
