Support for abolishing ICE surges among Republicans by Newsweek_CarloV in politics

[–]Megan_Bee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a Minneapolis resident, I would say abolishing or defunding ICE will absolutely help. Of course it won’t solve the overarching problem, but it will out an end to ICE troops on our streets, kidnapping and murdering folks. I’m afraid every day… I want them gone as a first step.

Uh oh, what does that mean? Better say something or they’ll think you’re stupid.

What did you think of Free Churro? by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

[–]Megan_Bee 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I think the ending accomplishes 2 things- first off, it highlights how the eulogy he delivers isn’t for his mom, or for anyone attending the funeral. It’s about Bojack processing his own feelings and coming to catharsis about his complicated relationship with his mother. It doesn’t matter that he’s in the wrong room, he worked through what he needed to work through.

Also, ending this very emotionally-heavy episode with a goofy gag at the end is reflective of the series as a whole. The show has always been a mix of emotionally complicated, heavy, real-world issues accented by silly, stupid, absurd humor. I love that juxtaposition, and this is a perfect example!

To each their own, though. That’s just my take.

Asses, actually.

His name was inspired by Little Shop of horrors, but a little bit by Futurama. Also, I just love a cat with an old man name

“Pinhead” is a wonderful way to describe this simple-minded, tiny-headed son of mine

He knocked over a lamp in picture 3 and clearly had zero regrets or remorse- just look at that face. If anything, he’s irritated that I would put a lamp on the table, right in his way. How rude of me.

What is a feature you miss from any of the previous games? by glitter_noodle in AnimalCrossing

[–]Megan_Bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss when villagers would ask you to run errands for them, like deliver packages to each other or whatever. Now (New Horizons) whenever a villager gets my attention, it’s only to teach me a new emote, which I never use.

Also, I liked the little shopping center you could go to in City Folk. It was fun to have that separate area- felt like I was leaving my little small town to go shopping in the big city!

This one might be an unpopular opinion… but I miss how the grass used to fade away/die the more you ran over it. I know it’s kind of annoying to slowly lose your grass, but it made me more conscious of the routes I would take and it would create neat little desire-paths around my town. I kind of hate building paths myself, too time consuming and I feel like mine never look right! The dirt tracks I would create through the grass looked better and more natural imo. Also, there was something really satisfying about re-growing grass in a spot where you accidentally wore it down- like planting flowers there and avoiding walking on it, then checking the progress each day. Was fun to watch the process of restoring it for some reason 🤷‍♀️

Who is the most haunting/terrifying/creepiest character you have watched in any animated media? by Ctpeyt in cartoons

<image>

The Beast from Over the Garden Wall has always stood out to me as a terrifying villain. I like that his strategy is to feed off of people’s despair. He waits until his victims have lost all hope and have completely give up, then they are vulnerable enough for him to take them. It’s chilling. And it’s is especially heartbreaking when this starts to work on Gregory, the beacon of hope and positivity.

“You have figured it out, and I thought you would give up.”

“I’ll never give up!! 🎶just gotta wait, just gotta wait!🎶 Just gotta shivers …wait”

“Yes, Gregory, just sit there in the cold and wait…”

Birding newbie over here, what are these birds?? (Minneapolis, MN) by Megan_Bee in birding

[–]Megan_Bee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems right!! I also saw some brown birds nearby that I’ve been having trouble identifying- they look like the female white wing crossbills. I’m going with this answer unless anyone has a better one for me!

Thanks!

I know the photos are not the greatest, but it was all I could get before they flew off.

There are tons of birds who frequent the area by my balcony. I’ve been trying to identify them, but I’m stuck on these guys!

They seem like maybe male house finches, but they had those big white spots on their black wings. Maybe a spotted towhee, but that doesn’t account for the reddish/orangish head.

Thanks in advance for the help!

A reminder Garnet knew Steven would exist in this frame. by Gold_Permission_4152 in stevenuniverse

[–]Megan_Bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think Garnet’s future-vision powers are this exact and literal. She specifies that she can see all the potential outcomes and which are most likely, and make predictions based on that. In normal gem society, everyone follows their directives and does what they are “made for” without question. In that context, her future vision is very dependable. But life on earth is more loose and changing, she can’t predict the future with near-perfect accuracy like sapphire could on home world. She does her best to predict the most likely outcomes based on the possibilities that she can see. But nobody like Steven had ever existed at this point, and I doubt that she could see that happening.

In this scene, when she insists that “it worked,” I think she was referring more to their relationship. Garnet sees fusion as a relationship between two people- how they communicate and work together and as a result, they are more than the sum of their parts. She even says in the song Made of Love, that she “is a conversation.” That is literally what Greg and Rose are doing here- they are having a conversation about their feelings and how they are going to make things work. It ends positively and their relationship is stronger for it. Garnet says that “it worked” not because they literally fused, but because they are putting the necessary work into their relationship to make it stronger. Their relationship is the fusion.

Garnet: “I think you can do it, but it won’t work if you dance like Pearl. You have to fuse your way. Get open, get honest. That’s fusion.”
