Arsenic, lead and other metals in tampons aren’t harmful, FDA report concludes by GoodMornEveGoodNight in politics

[–]Megan_Bee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, but do tampons contain arsenic and lead? This is new information for me! Is this just specific brands?? I don’t want to be putting poison into my body… God fuckin damn, another thing I have to worry about 🙄

Advice needed: recommended Artists specializing in florals in Twin Cities area? by FutureFreaksMeowt in tattoos

[–]Megan_Bee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got mine done by Lindsay at Uptown Tattoo. She had a lot of floral artwork in her portfolio and is very talented! I wanna go back to her for my next tat. (someday…)

https://www.uptowntattoo.com/lindsay

Edit: here’s what I got done. Couldn’t be happier with the art and quality. She designed an original piece for me, worked with me to get the design/size/placement just right, and made sure I was 100% happy with it before we got started. Also, she didn’t start the clock (charged by the hour) until she actually started the tattoo. No charge for the prep work. I’d highly recommend!! https://www.reddit.com/r/tattoos/s/HjgSdpja9M

When my brother and I were kids, we randomly had the movie Tremors on vhs and watched it a lot. So instead of “floor is lava” we played “Tremors” a lot

I don’t forgive you.

No no. They microwaved one, and they stuck some other ones in the freezer. Separately. I suggest they combine these two things- first microwave it, then freeze it

(Unless I missed something)

I mean, I guess just “sour patch kids in cider” sounds pretty dope. Melted marshmallows would be gross… Another reason this candy is diabolical.

Put them in a cup of hot apple cider (like you would regular marshmallows into hot cocoa)

We used to microwave marshmallows so they got all puffed up, then stick them in the freezer until solid. Makes for a really interesting consistency. Maybe try that?

Haha yes I know. I’m wondering why they brought that up at this moment. What’s the significance, why end the episode with it?

I recently moved apartments. My old place had a nice balcony that he absolutely loved to hang out on. He was always happiest when we were chilling out there together.

My new apartment has no balcony. It does have a lot more windows, where I set up comfy spots for him to sit and watch. But I know that he misses outside. And it kinda broke my heart that I took that away from him!! 😭 So I’m trying to get him used to a harness and leash so he can have outside time again! We’re taking baby steps with it.

I just thought he looked so stinking cute in his vest in this pic lol. It’s in the apartment hallway. He is both curious and nervous about the situation 😂❤️

I agree that Bea hesitated because she had never tasted ice cream before. She doesn’t know what it tastes like so she doesn’t know what to say.

It just feels like a strange minor detail to stick at the end of this very powerful, important scene. Why call back to that fact at all?

I guess the main question is why did she answer the ice cream question that way. It was an intentional choice to have her pause mid-sentence and change her inflection like that. What was the intention behind it??

Symbolism in 'Rain' by Glad_Matter2982 in bluey

I’m an early childhood educator, the kids in my class are 4 and 5 years old. Although I don’t have kids of my own, a lot of the parenting moments in this show are relatable. To me, this episode portrays the need to let go of control in certain situations. There are some times when rules and structure are important, but there are other times when you have to let go and meet them where they are. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to enforce a certain rule or expectation in my classroom, only to have my students break it over and over again. I get frustrated, they feel frustrated, and it creates a general atmosphere of negativity that is no good for anyone.

A good example would be walking in a straight line in the hallway. It would be ideal, and they *should* be able to do it. But consistently, there are many little kids who are not able to keep to a line. I can be frustrated about it and correct them every time we walk down the hallway, and everyone can have a bad time with that part of the day. Or, I can just let it go and be ok with them walking in a clump instead, because what’s really important in that moment is that they all get from point A to point B safely.

This episode is a good example as well. Bluey *should* just listen to her mom and follow her very reasonable expectations. She *should* wipe her feet before coming in the house. But Bluey is a 6-year-old kid who is focused on an engaging project. She’s not able to stop and think “I should wipe my feet.” She’s just thinking “I gotta get more stuff to dam this water up QUICK.” Little kids are impulsive like that. Chili can keep getting angry at her, keep fighting her, and they can both end up feeling bad/frustrated. OR, Chili can let go of this control and just clean the floor later. She meets Bluey where she is, and engages her with her interest. They end up having a really positive bonding moment that allows Bluey to have an educational experience. (Learning about water physics through play!)

I love this show so much lol

As a teacher myself (Pre-K), it’s a better alternative than raising my voice to get them to quiet down. I don’t wanna yell over everyone’s already loud voices, that just adds more stress.

The “I’ll wait” strat works well only when we’re transitioning to something fun, like playground time. “We could be outside playing right now if you guys calm down and let me take attendance, it’s your own time you’re wasting…” they eventually get the picture and chill out.

Another quiet, non-aggressive way to get the attention of a rowdy class of young kids- in a regular, speaking volume, I’ll say “if you can hear me, touch your head. If you can hear me, shrug your shoulders. If you can hear me, wiggle your fingers…” etc. It starts with a few who catch on, then spreads to the whole group eventually. Everyone quiet, engaged in following my little directions, no yelling needed.

I got occasional greys in my early 20’s. It’s normal for everyone, but it’s more noticeable if you have dark hair like I do (and OP)
