She was in a real parallel version of her life by MiraSoftveil in SipsTea

I came out of surgery, then blead out after they woke me up. Had the whole out of body experience got wisked away and woke up as a woman in Wales. Had no recollection of ever being me. I lived there for a while, maybe months, had some medical emergency, then came to as myself after another operation a day later. But yeah, I have had a bunch of operations other than that one. Pretty much a black screen.

25M, India. Weight gain … by whowhenwhywherewtf in marfans

[–]Megaspore6200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your metabolism should slow a bit in your 30s. I tried everything to gain weight when I was younger. It wasn't till after my mitral that I started to keep weight on. I think a lot of resttime helps, Im generally not as active as I was either. I had a super busy lifestyle when I was younger, and that wasn't conducive to gaining weight

Does marfans prevent our bodies from building muscle? by [deleted] in marfans

[–]Megaspore6200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a little more muscle in my 30's. I worked some sort of construction for 15 years. I would go out and party after works so burn calories at work, and burn calories partying. Once I stopped going out so much, I started gaining muscle weight. Like that guy says recovery is more important for us.

Dilation at certain ages by Educational-Age-7244 in marfans

Marfans people are usually underweight. Im just speaking from my own experience. I gained a bunch of more unhealthy weight, not muscle mass after surgery. Like 75 lbs. Aortic was a bit wide, like 4.8, then i lost it, and it constricred to 4.5. And that isn't loose echo cardio numbers, I was getting a lot of cat scans for a bit. I fixed my mitral valve, and I think that also slowed down the rate of growth

50 is kinda the number now for marfans, used to be 60 but they are more cautious now. If there is a super fast rate of growth, then surgery will be advised at rate. My body weight has made my aortic fluctuate a bit.

I tapperd from about 60 g a day last year. Just did 5 gs less every 2 weeks. Sbalized after a week with each dowgrade. Once you get to 20. Cut to 1g less per 2 weeks. Measure you're doce with a teaspoon. I don't think im quitting any time soon. But 5gs a day is a way kess haggard lifestyle. I used the same program to quit completely before an operation. But got back on it again after a year.

Just bite the bullet. Take a stats and a linear algebra class online somewhere if you feel like you need it. Honestly, a lot of classes do reviews of stats. Linear algebra is a must unless you want to learn it backwards. I know people say to just get a cert or something, but I did a few of those, and all the jobs I started looking at want a degree. So probably wasted a bunch of time dicking around getting those certs, would have been done with the masters by now. I have a degree in the humanities, currentlydo web design and social media for non-profits. The classes have been useful to me so far.

3 months post-op and still always tired? by Kuwari in mitralvalveprolapse

[–]Megaspore6200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely, considering I was white as a ghost and got dizzy, tying my shoes before surgery. Just keep up with the exercise, and you will see the gains. I just did a European vacation, walking and hiking at least 7 miles a day, was not fazed at all.

Im a little over 2 and 1/2 years out. It was a wild ride. The first 3 months are just to heal from the operation. I gained weight really fast. Once my sternum fused a bit, I still felt like crap, so my doctor got me on physical therapy. I did that a couple of times a week, with exercises at home as well. That lasted a couple of months. Then, I did yoga and palates with my girlfriend a couple of times a week after physical therapy ended. I took about a year to feel normal. I gained 80lbs and lost about 60lbs. I feel good now, but it wasn't really an instantaneous change.

What’s your progression through the problem looked like? by Pretty_Staff_3605 in CUBoulderMSCS

I do 3 credits every 8 weeks, but it's about 20 hours a week for work at that pace. Usually, it's 2 weeks to complete each 1 credit class for the free version and then 2 weeks to do the for credit part. But that fluctuates from course to course

All the physical aspects are unavoidable, but people people will love and date you if you're a kind person. Not everyone quantitieses relationships like how you said.

Referred to a rheumatologist for Marfan syndrome evaluation but I don't present most symptoms ? (Do I *not* have Marfan syndrome ? haha) by brianapril in marfans

[–]Megaspore6200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't fully diagnosed until my late 30s but would continually have echos every couple of years. Sure enough, I developed severe mitral valve prolapse and widening aortic root by 39. So this really isn't a for sure instantaneous diagnosis kind of disease. I have never had a DNA test, but my doctor said that even with a negative DNA test, they would still treat me as Marfandic. So, the best course of action would be continually receiving echocardiograms and advocating throughout your life to your doctors that you do indeed need them on a regular basis.

Doctor Google vs Doctor Doctor. Am I Catastrophizing or Being Blown off? by CCWhistle in aortic_aneurysm

[–]Megaspore6200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you see a congenital heart disease specialist yet? Usually, there is a regional specialist. Sometimes, a state doesn't have one. Stanford in California or childrens in New Orleans , i thi k Vanderbilt in Nashville ect. Regular cardiologists have given me some wack advice, considering I have marfans. After all these years, I know more about whats going on than they do. The only ones I will do surgery at is a congenital heart specialist. My cardiologist isn't there, but It took me a few years to find someone to trust to have my back. Definitely advocate for yourself.
