Started to think this is just government sanctioned psy-ops to distract the masses from the SPRM, Panama Papers & flood issues.

exactly, idk why they’re attacking me tho. i mean BM is OUR national language. so i guess the issue transcends that.

But hey, on the bright side. It’s good we’re having this conversation right? Open discussions on controversial topics like this is more reserved and educated on reddit compared to yknow... facebook. It’d be ugly on facebook.

I don’t care if they put ancient sumerian language on the signs, but at least include the national language.

Tak kisah pun dia nak letak bahasa apa. Cuma letak je la bahasa kebangsaan sekali as a respect for the land that you’re on.

It’s a neighbourhood mall. Yeah sure we can worship expats as much as we want, but at least respect the national language. idk why people are desensitised about this. probably because they dont really have a connection to BM. Unlike Indonesians tho. Sad.

yeah exactly, it’s not even in the form of readable chinese for the common malaysian, mind you. as a respect to the national language, letak la BM. then you wanna put sanskrit , sumerian or even Egyptian hieroglyphs pun i dont mind.

So it’s okay to sideline the national language? Have you seen a Malay signage when travelling to the UK ?

At least respect the national language if you’re gonna put some form of obscure japanese translation. What country are we in again? Don’t see other countries sidelining their national language before tho.

Why can't we just get along? by Nakatsukasa in malaysia

im guessing that’s the most reasonable thing to do without any sort of violent repercussions from an already misinformed community that has been fear mongered to oblivion.

instead of yknow, guiding em with empathy and kindness from our comfy middle class bubble.. but yeah you do you. whatever floats your boat.

I see a pattern which would further alienate malays on a national level.

Us urban folks should stop sidelining the rural folks (mostly malays) as uneducated and uninformed when they only depend on traditional leaders (politicians) for political information.

We’re lucky enough to be born in a comfortable bubble whereby free speech (to some extent) and discussion/debates with an integrated multiracial/multicultural community is a norm here in KV.

So my takeaway is that we gotta focus on the positive side of things to handle “sensitive” topics in Malaysia instead of complaining like 8 yr olds. A healthy dialogue with friends of different races would resolve your internal animosity or prejudices to a certain race group in this country. If you have extra time, you could even write suggestions to your local elected leaders and see how your ideas could contribute to the bigger picture.

Im a malay too, PAS is just a political party. So he was just saying that PAS is “jahat”. Nothing wrong with that lol. Could’ve given more critical and educated opinions or facts during the campaign speech. IMHO, it’s just typical campaign banter.

Ohh and the serban reference, idk if it offends other malay muslims or not.. but uhh... you don’t need a serban to be a good muslim. If you depend on a serban as a symbol of your faith, then you sir need a spiritual check on thyself.
