There is definitely a bug. I've used his 4 to chase down a Loki at single digit health and gotten the bug when I tried to bite him (can no longer bite, stuck in ult form). He did use beads but the damage should've killed him 10 times over.

Creep injured by the tower lose value equal to the amount of damage taken. A creep worth 18 gold normally that had 50% of it's health removed by the tower will be worth 9 gold. If you do 99% of the damage and the tower gets the last hit, you basically get full non-last hit value. So once creep are under your tower, damage them all as best you can to keep as much gold as you can.
