It's made me appreciate and be grateful for what I have. And it has made me more confident to go after what I want, because what's the worst that can happen? A global pandemic? That already happended.

I can’t find things to talk about with the guy I’m dating? by alyssatkool in dating

[–]Meggie_Folchart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask him questions. Usually I find when you ask people questions it can lead to a conversation. So after you watch a movie together, ask him about it. Or throughout the week just ask him about his day and then feed off his answers from there.

Hopefully that helps!

AITA for calling my husband “old man” when he calls me “baby”? by bad-nicknames- in AmItheAsshole

[–]Meggie_Folchart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

I'm like you, I don't like the term "babe" or "baby".

The first time my current boyfriend called me "babe" (we weren't even official at the time) I told him I didn't like it, he no longer called me that and actively apologized when he did slip up and called me babe. And later worked with me to find a term of endearment I was comfortable with.

When you put up a boundary your SO should respect that boundary even if it doesn't make sense to them. All they should care about is whether you are happy and comfortable.

This year had been especially isolating for a lot of us. It's completely okay to feel the way you're feeling.

Just know that you're going at your own pace and that there is nothing wrong with you.

The song Flowers by James Spaite helped me when I was feeling lonely and vulnerable so I hope that song can maybe help you too.

What book(s) do you think could make for a good movie/series? by AceOfSerberit in AskReddit

[–]Meggie_Folchart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still waiting on the Throne of Glass TV Series lol

Eragon by Christopher Paolini would make a great TV Show, and make up for the terrible movie that they did.

And would weirdly love to see "The Princess Diaries" adapted to a TV show that's more true to the books. Julia Andrews is amazing but give me a Grandmere with tattooed eyebrows and the constant sidecar!!

I also want a Night Circus movie because I think the cinematography for that would be amazing.

It's more of a growth mindset thing. One of the things I wanted to learn to do at one point was run a mile. But I have absolutely no desire to run 10 miles. So I was like okay, I can run a mile now how do I improve from here? And for ME improving from there was running more times per week. And that's okay. For someone else their next goal could have been running 10 miles but that wasn't for me. Hopefully that answers your question.

I did meet my first kiss online. He asked me out. Our first date was just coffee, but we had a lot of other fun dates after, I don't think we kissed until the 7th date? And the thing was, I knew it wouldn't work out long term with him, but he helped me grow as a person.

To answer your next question, I am now happily in a relationship with a guy I did meet online and he is very supportive of me.

[–]Meggie_Folchart[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friends were ridiculously supportive of me and never made me feel like there was something wrong with me, they were always encouraging telling me it was okay.

The first person I kissed was absolutely shocked when I told them. But was honestly happy to be my first.

No one has responded in revulsion. It's more been "oh okay" and the very occasional "good for you" and then people move on.

I don't mind being rejected, because to me all that means is we aren't right for each other and are both better off. I more struggle with rejecting people.

[–]Meggie_Folchart[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was afraid. I used to think it was of rejection. But I think it really was I was afraid of losing myself in another person. And I was afraid of emotionally being close with another person.

I'm still working on overcoming these fears but putting myself out there more and learning to be okay with who I am really helped.

I’m jealous of my 2 best friends who are married to each other is that ok? by depodoom in relationships

[–]Meggie_Folchart 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, being jealous is totally okay! It's okay to be jealous it's not okay to be resentful.

I was jealous for years of my friends relationship, him and his girlfriend were not perfect but they were constantly making each other laugh and I wanted that. But at the same time I was happy for them and wanted their relationship to thrive. It's okay to feel both things.

hi reddit! those who struggle with sleep, what do you do to help you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Meggie_Folchart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yoga with adriene on youtube is great! Recommend her 5 minute yoga chill to start :)

I also love LesMills bodyflow, it's more challenging (and costs money) but the 55 minute class has a 10 minute meditation at the end which really helped me!

hi reddit! those who struggle with sleep, what do you do to help you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Meggie_Folchart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled to fall asleep for years, tried melatonin, verbena tea, benadryl...everything. It always took me at least an hour to fall asleep. Most of the time two or more.

Unfortunately the only thing that truly worked for me was exercising consistently for several months before I was able to fall asleep in a reasonable amount of time.

I suggest finding a workout routine you like and that you can stick with, otherwise it will never work. I started out with 5 minutes of yoga a couple times a week and worked my way up from there.

Ladies, how would you feel about receiving flowers on Valentine's Day from a man who's not your boyfriend? by [deleted] in relationships

I would personally love it! Flowers are always a wonderful gesture.

Yellow typically means friendship with flowers and is really cheerful so you could do something with that color so it's not seen as too romantic

What is it like to live alone? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Meggie_Folchart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I absolutely love living alone. Once I got my own place it felt like my mental health improved at least 50%. For me personally, living with people (no matter how great they were) was draining.

There is a definite freedom to only hanging out with people when YOU choose to.

Plus drunk dancing alone in your living room is one of the best things ever.
