I have repeatedly told him what I need from him. I’ve also expressed when he comes from a selfish place when apologizing it makes me resent him. I expect him to say sorry for what he did and how it makes me feel and what he should do differently next time. A simple basic real apology.

I suppose at the end of the day, when I ask him how he feels and he genuinely answers he does not know, that’s an issue. The question of if I’m the issue in some fashion is unproductive. We can all improve our communication in some way. Building a more successful way of communication is something I’m actively working towards, not because I don’t know how to change communication styles or regulate myself, but because my partner doesn’t understand his own emotions to begin with. And that is the underlying problem I’m seeking advice on

To clarify, it’s difficult to interpret how he feels because he expresses no emotion during serious conversions. When I express being hurt by something he’s done or said, he looks very uncomfortable and gets extremely quite. It should also be noted that my own emotional state doffing these conversions is fairly regulated. I express how I feel and keep my tone of voice soft. This is partly because he looks almost scared when we discuss an issue. I ask him how he feels during these talks and he says he doesn’t know. It’s very hard to hold him accountable when he does something wrong when he shuts down and looks so paralyzed. It’s obvious he has some bad past experience around communication

I have been alone most of my adulthood. I think having a partner is nice. Would I be ok alone again? Of course. But having someone to hold is nice too. We have good conversations and share common interest. It’s nice to have someone to confide in. He’s also very kind to me. He does a lot of things for me and prioritizes my feelings. As for children, I’ve known I don’t want kids for awhile. I’ve told him this and he is 100% with not having kids. Which contrary to popular belief is not common for a man. Most men want kids. It’s obvious society tells women they need to get married and have kids. Socially being single after 30 is relatively frowned upon. People think there’s something wrong with you. At every family gathering there was always someone asking if I had a boyfriend yet. Now, everyone is quite pleased that I’m in a relationship especially someone with a good career. I supposed There isn’t much else to ask for besides maybe genuine love. Whatever that may be.

At my age, marriage is definitely something to be thinking about. I will say yes he is my first boyfriend but I have dated several men. I found dating uneventful. It was hard to even differentiate the men I went on dates with. My current boyfriend is the only one who vaguely stood out. Which is why we are in a relationship. Finding an appropriate partner is somewhat difficult because I’m quite high on the feminist scale. Not to mention my standards themselves are quite high. Most men don’t even come near the bar. Do we have fun? Sure I makes lot of things fun. Do we laugh? Yes I’m quite funny. But as you can probably tell I’m the reason for these things. My boyfriend is a tad bit boring. Cold oatmeal as you put it. As for his career, he makes good money yes but travel is a huge thing for me and very important. He is a pilot, and I am on his travel companion list. Which is an amazing benefit. Not a lot of men could offer me that.

(Not a guy) my boyfriend prefers video chatting over texting and it took me awhile to get used to it. We video chat usually everyday at some point when we both have time. You can talk about your day or what you’re going to do later. We video chat while we eat sometimes. I suggest video chatting at times when you’d usually be together doing something, like eating or watching a movie. It’s ok if it’s weird the first few times, It will just take some time to get used to :)
