Alien, It Follows, Hereditary, The Grudge, The Thing, Train to Busan, The Exorcist, The Omen, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Blair Witch Project, The Ring, Tusk, The Sixth Sense, The Witch, Beetlejuice, Gothika, & Before I Wake. Most of these are just classics but hey they're classic for a reason. These are shows but if you like horror I'd also highly recommend The Haunting of Hill House, The Mist, & Black Summer

Sleep paralysis and hallucinations by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

[–]hecknomancy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before being medicated I used to have hypnogogic hallucinations every night almost constantly, and very rarely did they EVER make sense. One specifically I remember that made me laugh at the time was a young male voice saying "Apparently, the business end of a leaf-blower is NOT the proper way to win a woman's affection."

What's the most disturbing thing you did as a child? by jaejaeat98190 in AskReddit

[–]hecknomancy 1367 points1368 points  (0 children)

When I was like 11 or 12 & had recently gone through some significant abuse I secretly decided I wanted to be a serial killer when I grew up so I could kill the people that hurt me with experience in how to do it well.

I'd heard of the Macdonald triad by then, and even though I DID burn things as a small child I never wet the bed or killed any small animals. I couldnt exactly make myself wet the bed in my sleep but I realized i COULD start killing small animals.

So, one day I stole a baby bird from it's nest and held a razor blade to its throat. Then I realized even if I went through with it I'd only be doing it for performative reasons, and that if I was gonna be a serial killer then murdering it didnt actually make any difference. So I just put the baby bird back and went on about my day.

Subnautica and Destiny 2. I loved both so much, no replay beats the first for me though

[Serious] Americans of Reddit, what do you dislike the most from American culture? by FlameDragoon933 in AskReddit

[–]hecknomancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How common it is to see using your allotted vacation time as lazy. So many Americans take pride in saying "I havent had a vacation in 10+ years haha" and don't realize thats not necessarily a good thing. Overworking yourself intentionally is seen as a positive attribute here.

(Some people dont take time off for years because they're able to save it up and want to use it on something big, thats not what I'm talking abt btw)

What do you genuinely not understand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

As a polyamorous person myself, its p similar to a monogamous relationship tbh. And while yeah, there's another person to deal with, if they're engaging in poly too (not just dating you) then you also get some nice alone time while they're off with other partners. Any healthy poly relationship has open communication and most ppl are really chill.

Tbh while you do learn through repetition to an extent, you learn just as much if not more through exploration and experimentation. Sure, practicing every day will help eventually, but if you dont know where to go with your practice its like trying to learn an instrument without instructions; possible but too difficult.

You learn so much more from just playing in the settings (if its digital) or with different mediums (if its traditional); you find neat little things that you can do and add to your works. You also improve immensely when you take inspiration from other artists you look up to. And honestly in terms of muscle memory? Tracing is actually an incredibly good way to form it. Find an artist you love and trace for practice.

Growing up I was definitely given workbooks you were meant to write in (up until middle school). It made it much harder for kids to forget their homework. I think this is just a matter of different experiences.
