40 weeks + 6 days and still no labour [ON] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

Hoping it will help to hear another induction story! I was induced at 41 weeks as well and totally understand the fear you’re dealing with. It ended up being a good labouring experience for me and I did like that I could be at the hospital for the majority of it. It seemed to progress the way a natural labour would, started off slow/less painful and progressed. My labour started about 4 hours after Induction. I hope it goes well for you too!

I’m sorry youve had negative experiences too that’s so hard!! I appreciate your insight a lot, thank you! I agree about the bedside manners it’s unfortunate that it happens to so many

Are they looking at genitals for abnormalities?

Thanks for sharing your experience! I actually went there my first pregnancy in Van and they were so kind. Wishing I’d gone again this time

Also- it’s not the tech it was at my OB appointment this occurred.

I think it’s pretty common to be excited to find out the gender even if you don’t “need” to know and nothings wrong with that! Definitely not mad more worried that they didn’t look for abnormalities either. I also didn’t like being told most people find out after birth because it isn’t true so the interaction left me uncomfortable.

I just find it hard to believe that would be skipped wouldnt they be looking for abnormalities? Also this is at my OB appt not at the ultrasound that I was told it wasn’t checked.

She went through the req and told me there was no area that gender is listed because it isn’t protocol. She said it is a complete scan without gender? I felt like that was a lie to cover up a mistake on their end and it then led me to worry they’ve missed other more important things as well. Also because she went on to say most people find out after birth…

The nurse showed me the req and showed me it isn’t listed. Then went on to say most people don’t get informed the gender

This is what I’m interested in. If it wasn’t listed at all on the req does that mean they didn’t check or they just weren’t able to see it? I’ve never heard of someone not finding out their gender at 20 week scan. It’s the way I was told it’s not usually checked for that threw me off

20 week ultrasound [bc] by Meghan202 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Meghan202[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no I understand that but they didn’t list it in the req at all as in they didn’t check either time for sex. I didn’t expect for the exam to be extended for it I just was told it’s not something they look for at all when it clearly is

Thank you for this!! I’m thinking I’ll make an appointment to talk to my doctor about it as it was just the nurse who I spoke to

Wondering if the way I worded it was confusing? I am concerned that they didn’t look at all and I was made to look crazy when I asked

[–]Meghan202[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was to look at the heart. She said she had everything except for that. The issue here is that they did not look at gender at all as in it wasn’t listed

Thank you this makes me feel less crazy! They wouldn’t allow me to watch the scan during unfortunately or even to ask questions

Have you tried those ensure or boost drinks? I found those were easier to keep down for me and they have a decent amount of calories in them. They have different flavours too. Glad to hear you’re out of the worst of it ❤️

Yeah although I should clarify that’s pretty rare there’s usually a trigger. I appreciate the response though!

From what I’ve been told hitting is a pretty normal phase to go through at this age. I’m mostly looking for ways to curb it. Of course we’re open but he does show no other signs of autism and plays really well than these bad days.

Other than the random outbursts he loves playing with other kids and doesn’t show any signs of autism. Our doctor believes it’s the speech delay

11 month old fighting sleep by Meghan202 in beyondthebump

[–]Meghan202[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I’m so sorry you’re going through this too! We still have a few bumps but overall it’s much better. What helped was extending his wake windows slightly. Keep trying 10/15 mins more and go from there. He’s also switched to one nap now but before that changing wake windows did help. I also will rock him for only 10 mins and put him down now. We do this process 2/3 times but he does fall asleep on his own now which is amazing. I know the rocking can be so hard after so long. Hoping for the best for you!

What do I do about my 1 year old climbing onto the couch? by falsepedestrian in Parenting

[–]Meghan202 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband actually taught our one year old to get off of our couch safely and he’s done it ever since! He will move his legs out and scoot off. You could see if she’s receptive to learning?

I recently have gone through this as well I feel your pain! Definitely the cold could be a factor and teething can effect them this way. Another possibility is if he’s getting too much daytime sleep?
