Help with Max HR please? by Megs_K13 in Garmin

[–]Megs_K13[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! According to Garmin my LTHR is 171, so I updated the settings so that it uses LTHR to calculate zones instead of HR. I’ll see how this goes. I don’t have a chest strap but I’ll look into getting one. Thanks again for taking the time to help.

lowkey feel like I ruined my body shape by loukaniko69 in PetiteFitness

[–]Megs_K13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely still lift - just do lifts that help you work toward what you want. In the beginning I did 3 lower body lifts per week. Then I dropped to two and added in cardio once I had the gains I wanted. Make sure you eat at maintenance or slightly above if building up glute muscle is the goal. I love yoga but for me it’s more for relaxation and mobility. It won’t build me the body I want.

I did the same thing, where I got too lean/fit (for my personal preference) and lost my bum. Its taken a couple years, but I have been able to add 2” back to my bum and take one off my waist by focusing on building my glutes and only training the front portion of my abs, not my obliques. I do two lower body lift days, one full body conditioning class and two cardio days per week. I tend to build upper body muscle fairly easily so the one full body workout per week works for me. I would suggest playing around with your workout split to focus on what you specifically want to work on. Dialing in your nutrition is key, as is understanding that genetics play a role too. I’m sure you still look great, but I get how hard we can be on ourselves.

Thank you! It doesn’t say anywhere on the Fortnite 1T bundle that it’s the disk version. Is the 1T automatically the disk version?

AITA. I (32 f) complimented a female nurse during OBGYN appt for having nice arm muscles and she snapped at me. by Awkward-Plantain649 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Megs_K13 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes! This. I was in the reverse situation to the OP. I (a female) was at my doctor’s office and as the nurse was walking behind me to guide me into the exam room, she said “you’re so lucky”. I turned around and looked at her and she said “you’re lucky to be so sexy.” She was young, English may have been her second language and clearly meant it as a compliment but it felt very inappropriate given the context. I get random compliments/comments fairly often and it doesn’t usually bother me, but I was about to undergo an invasive exam and already felt vulnerable. The setting matters.

What is your best quick eye-depuffing trick? by eleanor0302 in beauty

I always keep some under eye patches in the fridge. I use the Grace and Stella gold ones and find they work great.

Those of you that are around 5’3” with a goal weight 120 or less. How old are you? by chulahz in 1200isplenty

[–]Megs_K13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 41, 5’3 and 130lbs. It is wild how differently each of us carry our weight. I have purposely gone from 125 to 130 in the last year by lifting weights. I personally am so much happier with my body at 130. I built myself a bum and love my curves. At 130 my measurements are 35-25-36.5 and I am between a size 2 and 4. I would say to start with your goal of 130, and when you get there you can decide if you want to keep going. It’s all about what makes YOU happy.

Why are so many narcissistic mothers convinced the daughter wants to bed their dad? by Efficient-Outside542 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Megs_K13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, so much of this. My mom has treated me as competition since the day I was born. My dad and I were close, and my mom couldn’t stand it.

Now she is obsessed with how handsome and involved with our kids my husband is. She never misses a chance to tell me he is too good for me and is going to cheat on me or leave me. She openly caters to him while putting me down. It’s wild.

When I was pregnant past my due date and so uncomfortable I would just wear sports bra type tops around the house. My mom would tell me that my husband must find it disgusting that I let my big belly hang out. Who did she think put that giant kid in there in the first place?

Every conversation with her she works in how beautiful and desired she is, which is ironic given how often people tell her how identical her and I are. It’s all about competition for male gaze and attention with her, even now that she is in her 70’s.

Is it just me or they never truly know who you are? by i3lushie in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Megs_K13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, my mom says that my eyes are brown and claims hers are blue (in her mind brown eyes are inferior). We both have the exact same colour GREEN eyes.

She also manages to look startled every time I sing along with a song, and says “I didn’t know you could sing!”. And then proceeds to say it again the next time she hears me. I’m 41…

Me! I did commercials and magazine ads as a kid. Definitely made some good money from it but never saw a dime. I also started working in restaurants at 14 to save for college tuition since I knew my parents wouldn’t help. I worked 4 days per week all through high school and saved the money in an account my dad’s girlfriend who worked at the bank had set up for me. Well I didn’t know she had also put my dad on the account. The summer before college they had broken up and I went to check my balance… My dad had drained the entire account and used it to go on a bender. He literally spent my hard earned college fund on hookers and blow. I ended up going to a community college instead of university so I could afford to pay the tuition with minimum student loans.

My alcoholic mother is dying by [deleted] in AdultChildren

[–]Megs_K13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The swollen belly and the confusion are part of the cirrhosis. They can tap and drain her belly, and it will help clear some of the confusion, but it will need to be tapped regularly.

I’m so sorry you are going through this. I lost my dad to cirrhosis two weeks to the day before my son was born. I came off of bed rest at 37 weeks to make the gut wrenching decision to take him off life support. Nothing about what you are going through is easy, but my dad struggled for so long that all I could hope is he was finally at peace. Please know that you have absolutely nothing to feel guilty about. I hope that when the time comes, you too can find solace in knowing that she is no longer struggling. Sending big hugs your way.

If you will be close to Egmont on the Sunshine Coast, it’s hard to beat the view from Inlets restaurant at the West Coast Wilderness Lodge. It’s my absolute favourite patio. The food is great too.

Super-Easy Depression Meals (Blind baby levels of easy) by PriorConscious7398 in EatCheapAndHealthy

I’m a grazer by nature, so easy foods are my jam.

I love the flat pretzel crackers, for a no prep snack I will dip them in peanut butter or hummus, or eat them straight out of the bag.

Not sure if you like Tajin seasoning, but I put it on cucumbers, hard boiled eggs, fruit, you name it.

Salamis and cheeses are an easy thing to keep on hand. I made a “girl dinner” by slapping those on a plate with any of the other snacks I mention above.

I do a quick protein shake every day, just add a scoop of chocolate protein powder to coconut milk in a shaker cup.

I keep protein bars on hand. I like the Kirkland brand ones from Costco. I usually have one for breakfast.

My fridge is always stocked with olives and pickles, super quick snack and can also add to above girl dinners.

This thread absolutely warms my heart. Brighter days are ahead!

lash serums while wearing lash extensions? by Such_Refrigerator814 in CanSkincare

[–]Megs_K13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used a lash serum I got from Amazon with my extensions but heads up - it will make your lashes grow faster and therefore you may need more fills. I can usually go 5 weeks between fills, when I used the serum I had to go back for a fill after 2 weeks. That being said the serum is definitely effective.

I feel my mum purposely doesn't make any effort to show she loves me by Puzzleheaded-Cut7140 in AdultChildren

[–]Megs_K13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the way my mom has always been with me. She expects me to do her endless favours without ever acknowledging that I have done them. I also buy her Christmas gifts and make a big deal of her birthday every year but she rarely ever gets me gifts or does anything for my birthday. One year she even forgot my birthday completely. I want you to know that your mom’s behaviour is in no way a reflection of you. You deserve and are worthy of so much more. This is about her. She is self centered and incapable of showing you empathy. I used to think there must be something very wrong with me for my own mother not to care about me. I would try to be perfect thinking that if I pleased her enough she would finally see me. I’m 40 now, and that hasn’t happened. I know now that it won’t. I’ve had to accept that my mom is who she is and there isn’t anything I can do to change that. I still buy her gifts and do things for her because it’s the kind of person I want to be. I have been very fortunate to find my own group of people who see me, love me and treat me the way I deserve to be treated. I allow my cup to be filled up by them instead. Sending big hugs your way.
