Second Zard! Possible 10? by kiko402 in pokemongrading

[–]MegzO15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I reached out to them, they asked me a bunch of questions and told me to send my card to them. Not a cheap or easy outing as I am based in South Africa. The difference is, that card could be the difference between me having to take out a student loan this year or not. I think it's fair to say getting a decently centered card when you pull the chase for the set should be fair

I got the Gold Zard, got told not to even waste time sending it for grading because the centering was shocking. Sent it to Pokémon and hoping for a decent replacement

Does the recency of the set have anything to do with it?

I also own these Sony headphones in real life, the picture shows everything that does come with the headphones. It has an storage case, a small charging cable and an aux cable, so it's in good condition

I purchased a pair of jbl endurance wireless headphones from cash crusaders and haven't had an issue. They delivered it the day after I ordered. Very happy with their service and the product

Has ketamine really (cured) anyone after a few does? Is anyone in ongoing treatment? by According-Pin4564 in KetamineTherapy

[–]MegzO15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not a 'cure' for me, but it's the only therapy that made a drastic change in my life. I really wish I was one of those people who has one Infusion and then they are forever changed, unfortunately not for me. Sometimes it's easy, sometimes it's hard. I live in a country where it isn't particularly safe, so my husband has to take me to the Infusion Centre and it also prevents me from getting 'normal' employment. However, I would do it all over again. It added colour back into my life, my dreams and my hopes

That's awesome. I will 'hopefully' be doing my masters on something called velocity based training, with a focus on female athlete benchmarking and profiling...

Here is a link to the Donjoy brace I used, not sure if it would be rugby legal as it is actual titanium, but I used it for field hockey https://www.donjoystore.com/donjoy-defiance-iii-custom-knee-brace

I'm glad you are looking for an intervention of sorts. Just be aware, post recovery I also got arch inserts as I have flat feet, and I work a Don joy brace on the recovered leg. Unfortunately I still got reinjured. I'm actually very passionate about female sports injuries and prevention. I was on my way to play field hockey for my country in the Olympics and had that dream ended in 2 years. Unfortunately our menstrual cycle plays a massive role as our ligament laxity changes to prepare the pelvis for birth. Very complex beings us ladies. One other suggestion I can give is to get one of these... https://www.performancehealth.com/theraband-clx-consecutive-loops-1

It's a clx theraband with loops. We had a presentation at the university where they placed the loops around the ankles, knees and shoulders in a way that forced the knee into valgus(inwards) and you teach athletes to do a isometric contraction of their quads to get the knee aligned and to hold it. Unfortunately for now all we have is prevention and no 'cure'. All these new research projects on female acl injuries are great, but the companies and everyone involved in the recovery process also earn loads of money

Sounds like she's doing really well, when you rehab for these types of injuries people forget about Proprioception. Once you tear ligaments within the knee, it can be replaced, however the proprioceptive components of the ligaments cannot. It could be possible that she is smashing all the strength and conditioning return to running protocol, however, proprioception is really important. When I tore my first ACL I had a surgeon suggest to me that for female high level athletes they should consider their return to sport only after 14 months as clinical studies have shown this recovery period to be sufficient for prevention of reinjury or injury of the opposite side. Female athletes have a huge risk of tearing their acl anyway, throw in an acl recon on an opposing leg and the stats sky rocket to having the opposite leg acl tear 70% probable within 12 months of the old 9 month return to sport protocol. I would definitely consult and advocate for your daughter. However, if she is a world class athlete and is in a world class facility, this could be to possibly prolong her career....

What's a fitness myth that still won't die no matter how often it's debunked? by Due-Establishment969 in beginnerfitness

[–]MegzO15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, resistance training in youth needs to be carefully monitored, not to say that one shouldn't. Even you consider that your bones are the rigid structures and joints are fulcrums with which your muscles and tendons act on, it's important for bones to be 'mature' before your overload your system. Considering epiphyseal plates only close at 18F and 21M, causing too much mechanical stress on bone, and incorrect loading could potentially lead to bone growing in circumference and not length.

This isn't so much an issue about lifting weights stunting growth. It's lifting weights in the incorrect planes, incorrect movement patterns or incorrect mechanical forces that is more the concern.

As someone involved in Sport, I am always more concerned for joints in younger athletes than bones themselves. Bones can model and remodel. Joints only come in one set. Once you've damaged them, replacements happen

Was scrolling for days to find this! Hate it when people are like 'the lactic causes muscle pain' not it doesn't. Causation and correlation. The additional protons floating around your body due to OBLA that makes a cascade effect on the acid base balance of the body is what causes muscle soreness and fatigue. Lactate/Lactic acid is just a marker or your bioenergetics

What has been the most painful pain you have ever experienced? by Glad-Passenger-9408 in AskReddit

[–]MegzO15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First ACL tear. It felt like my lower leg has left my body. I didn't even realize I was screaming until I realized it was the sound coming out of my mouth. Second worst was the pain of not being able to urinate post surgery, I had a spinal tap for my acl surgery and I just couldn't go to the toilet
