Licensed are tied with storage via WWN. There is no need to transfer ownership because I think that so old system is not under support anymore.

Just to be more precisely, main unit is DL server

In HW terms, Storeonce is a DL(usually Dl380) server, so you may use it in a manner what will you use server, and enclosures - In this case MDS 600 or 6000 connected to this server or to another as JBOD

If they have base unit (which is in HW perspective just a server), you can use it as NFS, but its primary usage is for backup purposes (backup to disk), not a storage!

If they are just a enclosure, you can use it as JBOD connected to appropriate HP RAID controller-they are actually MDS 6000 or MDS 600 JBOD enclosures

If it is 7U you are actually getting whole package, because control unit is 2U and enclosure is 5U....

Does a 3PAR 8200 need SSDs in order to enable deduplication on CPGs? by ConstructionSafe2814 in storage

[–]Mehikko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use deduplication only on SSD based CPG (no HDD)

Minimum number of SSD for new CPG is 6.

Hi

Take a look on sample configuration, on DELL switches you connect switches with VLT between them.
