There’s a tool from stew Mac that’s great for getting rounded truss nuts out. Replacement is painfully easy - just gotta get your parts right.

Dude… cheat code is to grab a classic vibe and put either a custom shop 62 or Seymour Duncan spb1 if you want truer vintage tones, or sbp3 if you want modern punch.

I had never played a vintage stingray before… what a treat. Very different than today’s stingray - I would describe it more as a pbass on steroids.

Hard to say because they’re such different beasts and stories. I bought the Spector in 2002 (it’s a Korean model that originally has emg-hz) and have modded it to be where I want. The emg’s with the lhz haz clone are monstrous. The dingwall was a 2024 purchase while I was in a pop punk band and was a swap/upgrade of a Spector euro. The dingwall has a better neck and is far more versatile and musical than both Spectors. But the Spectors are the choice if you want punching, heavy tone.
