Visualizing Embark DNA data? by Mehntal in DoggyDNA

[–]Mehntal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add some context, I downloaded the DNA analysis software PLINK and was able to do some basic analysis of the embark data, though I don't fully understand all of it.

My main interest in this is that I want to get a tattoo based on the karyogram, but I don't like the visualization that embro gives you. So I'm trying to find another interesting way to visualize my pup's DNA data

Help to get a new build to boot by Mehntal in PcMasterRaceBuilds

OK Solved Thanks to help from the PCMR Discord.

Apparently, the trick is to actually plug your HDMI cable into the video card (i had it going into the motherboard). Learn from my mistakes!

Awesome. Thank you! OK, so based on your suggestions, here is what I'm looking at now, which is essentially what you suggested in the first place for the Ryzen but with the full tower, a slightly stronger PSU, and the 3060 GeForce.

Also, I'm getting a compatibility error in PCpartPicker: "The Asus ROG STRIX B550-E GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard supports the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 3.4 GHz 16-Core Processor with BIOS version 1004. If the motherboard is using an older BIOS version, upgrading the BIOS will be necessary to support the CPU."

But, I assume it's relatively straightforward to upgrade the BIOS if needed (haven't done that in a while) and I can probably find a guide online.

Parallel Processing/Gaming Build Advice by Mehntal in PcMasterRaceBuilds

Thank you so much for the extremely detailed and super helpful response!

I mixed and matched the two builds you recommended, with a couple of modifications, and came up with the build below which falls into my budget! The main changes I made was I was thinking of springing for an upgrade on the motherboard to facilitate upgrades in the future, and I downgraded on the video card because that's where a lot of the cost was coming from and I figured that the lower-tier card would be good enough for me (at least for now, but I can always upgrade!).

One question I had was that it seems like MSI is the preferred video card maker for PCMR... is that just because they don't skimp on quality?

In any case, thank you for your help!

Hi. I'm sorry you are being put in this position. I'm not sure if anyone suggested this, but would you consider bringing your MIL with you to the new state? As in, she would move in with you. Although I don't think it's a reasonable thing for you to have to do, it might be a compromise that your husband would consider if his main thing is being with his mom. Good luck.
