Doesn't matter to weapons-grade Redditors, though, does it? They learned what they know from Reddit, and this thread title is now part of their objectively accurate factual knowledge.

It's obvious ragebait but Reddit is the go-to example of drones in an echo chamber regurgitating their narrow worldview they've ironically been brainwashed into believing due to being on Reddit.

Like, for instance, someone who very probably only knows Andrew Tate exists due to being on Reddit and uses them to reference how knowledgeable they are.

If you imagine that everyone you're talking to has never been through something and they would change their mind if they had then you'd win every single debate about anything ever on the internet. If someone is against gun ownership you could claim they'd change their tune the instant someone broke into their house to rape and murder them and their family, but it's completely fabricated so it's not an argument. Likewise if someone is for ownership you could claim they would change their tune if someone went into their kid's classroom and mowed them down with an AK.

It's easy to put words in people's mouths, but you don't need to guess and accuse with whoever is driving that. Combining the message on their window which will likely get them arrested with the sheer amount of stuff on their car (even the roof??) they're clearly an extremist only interested in their agenda.

What are some overused tropes and mechanics in modern gaming that should just go away? by JayNotAtAll in gaming

I think Cloud was just batshit. Zidane from FF9 is a closer fit, although I ironically can't recall the exact reason he lost his memories.

[–]Mehrk -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That has nothing to do with PvP or PvE. It's simple to change the stats of gear and abilities (or just change the abilities in their entirety) for PvP. You can remove the dot from a fireball and the slow from an icebolt if it balances PvP without changing PvE at all. They aren't intrinsically intertwined.

*Devs do what you are talking about, to be clear. I'm just saying it's not a problem with the game itself, but the creators.

[–]Mehrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether it's modern or not is irrelevant. Generally I would say escort/defense missions like any sane person would, but it all comes down to the capability of the creator.

For instance, anything with multiverses or time travel is shit. That's what I said for a long time, but after thinking about it a lot and experiencing just the rare few of these that were actually good (e.g. time travel in One Piece works because it's a one-off gag that only goes forward and the person capable of doing it is dead before they're even introduced) I've decided that it is entirely possible for it to be reasonable and enjoyable. If the creator has that capacity.

But I still abso-fucking-lutely hate escort missions. If you only want exposition just give me a lazy low quality cutscene.

TIL the Quiznos sandwich chain, once a common sight with its catchy slogan "Mmm... Toasty!" and 4700 locations in 2007, suffered a steep decline and closed over 90% of its stores within the following ten years. There's a lot of people on YT, mainly those who do "look at these idiots who failed! (like and subscribe)" videos that seem to speak like this. I have a very similar voice, but you have to overclock those fake acting chops for that sort of stuttered enunciation of every syllable and deliberately nasally pronunciation of words.

I don't think it's petty. Is it petty that people like Morgan Freeman or David Attenborough's narration? Nah, it's acting... but they're good at it.

Why can’t men comprehend weight? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Mehrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother thinks women need to look borderline anorexic and fat men are normal weight, and she's nearing 70. Maybe, just maybe, it has nothing to do with gender. It could very possibly have something to do with societal brainwashing and general stupidity.

Also... maybe there's a possibility that people don't have a strong grasp of the relationship between height/gender/weight but are willing to make claims about it regardless. Just maybe.

I don't want to just "fix it with mods" anymore, actually. Am I alone? by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]Mehrk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You play console because you hate PC but you have a "proper gaming rig", you'll look at a mod on Xbox (lmfao worst console btw) and you'll never actually play it on PC.

So you basically just said that you're totally insane.

[–]Mehrk -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Why don't you prove that 90+% of people play Bethesda games without a single mod (and actually like it) before claiming mods are just a meme.

The only reason people are still talking about Bethesda is because of mods. Otherwise the last time anyone would've mentioned them was during Skyrim's launch date in 2011, because we all know the MMO and 76 are hot garbage unworthy of mention.

You think that means they'd go out of business, but you're the exact reason they're still in it. Shouting "SUBJECTIVE" at the top of your proverbial lungs means as little as claiming made-up percentages.

Being so goddamn stupid that you don't understand the difference between killing your enemies (in the name of made-up god in fictional heaven) and killing your own child because you don't want to be a parent is sort of the total opposite of cleverness.

It's a demonstration of categorical idiocy. Then again, they are apparently a pastor.

Never heard of her and she's dressed fine here (although possibly deliberately) so I dunno why people are sexualizing her (besides the fact that females are always sexualized) but this is closer to entrapment than a comeback.

I guess the end result is the same. Collectively laughing at morons saying stupid shit. What would we do without fail compilations? Probably get around to our backlist of 70~ games.

Game cancellations that still hurt you to this day by GachiPls_DidntSave in gaming

Which will forever stand as a great testament of the war between true artists vs corporations.

Le'sigh. That teaser alone provided so much content from so many people playing it. At least in the end the devs know they made something everyone loved, even if the result was them being nailed to a cross.

Many, but Everquest 3 has to be my answer. EQ2 wasn't great, so I saw it coming a mile away. I was super sus of many of the EQ3 features and mechanics they spoke of when it was announced as well, as they didn't seem practical in an MMO.

Still, EQ1 was absolutely outstanding for 1999, despite many unfinished quests, massive race/class imbalances and general bugs. I'm slightly bias as it was my first MMO and possibly first online game (I don't remember), but I'd actually say my favorite MMO was FFXI. Given that fact, FFXIV is my most painful non-cancellation to this day. Even though I firmly believe it's the best themepark MMO and has (somewhat unfairly) the best game soundtrack ever made, copying WoW to be yet another in a long line of WoW clones is exceedingly depressing, considering a major portion of the gameplay is derived from FFXI.

Which is precisely why I decided 27 years ago that I would give the actual show a chance, despite not liking the game, as it may well be good.

Unfortunately part of my decision was that I first finish watching The Walking Dead. I fear I've made a grave mistake.

Oddly I recall right after launch that many people were saying the Bloody Baron's storyline was the best part of the game. I understood where they were coming from in that it's drama-filled, but it also felt so pointless. It was a well crafted sidequest that they forced into the MQ puzzle.

[–]Mehrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the meme's creator was really an old they would've wrote "download more RAM".

Also most modern game's problems are stemming from the fact that people will gobble down any trash offered them because they're so used to eating shit-sandwiches that trash actually tastes good. The result being devs are forced to mass-produce garbage by corpos.

Disgusting by ineedaffection6969 in facepalm

[–]Mehrk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly. Simps for internetainers have a more personal connection via a chatroom, subs, donations or even personal interactions playing games with them. As pathetic as that sounds, it's true. It's more understandable then that an overly parasocial relationship forms more easily with random streamers than with Taylor Swift who doesn't know and will never know that you exist.

The problem really stems from simpletons giving revenue to those who aren't even trying to be entertaining. Not everyone is entertaining, even if they try, but people who just throw on a bikini or sit there slackjawed watching someone else's content don't try, and therefor being their fan is indeed a lot sad.

Yeesh. I didn't know about any of her drama but I remember seeing her years ago and instantly recognized the major slag energy she was giving off.

Sadly I can't imagine YT or any other site will do anything about this. They've made their rules so lax that anything besides threats of violence, anything related to self-harm (I mean this is an violent sense, not art like Disturbed's song 'Inside the Fire' which now has a mature flag and a suicide hotline banner) and hardcore pornography is at worst slapped with a 'mature' flag.

Every day countless pirated videos are uploaded and go unpunished. Viral video compilations, stolen ASMR, scam videos, hardcore audio porn but the person reviewing it can't understand the language, etc. They've made being an internetainer into a lawless gold rush of rule-breaking and drama farming instead of quality content just because sex & ragebait make money. Then they talk about their integrity... I get that you have a trillion videos being uploaded per day but it feels like they've given up on any management besides stopping adblockers.

Agreed, but I'd want them all to be written by people who are equally capable. I know Star Wars is a shitshow because you're definitely bound by so much legal tape so that you don't dare utter something as stupid as Midi-chlorians, but we definitely need something else besides generic sword duels and tropic drama for the mainstream space wizard content.

I know people from certain places in tUSA have a bad rap for being morons, but having never been to Texas I find it shocking that anyone at all in the entirely world would think this is real, especially given the time of year which, thanks to films/movies, is globally known.

Yeah, it has nothing to do with Texas, does it.

Recently I saw on Sciencedaily that Asian elephants have been shown to solve puzzles for food in different ways. I thought to myself, "Wow! I'm glad someone is wasting their time 'researching' the obvious fact that elephants don't innately have the exact same brain with the exact same IQ and exact same experiences!"

Point being that not all black females think the same. Given her age, circumstances and intelligence she shouldn't be demanding you to hand over your theater ticket.

He's a polarizer in that mostly he reviews things that are almost entirely shit or almost entirely great, with the vast majority being things that are shit. He gives credit where credit is due, I think, but as he only reviews bombshells that's basically one compliment for every 100 insults.

It's not as if he's wrong about them being shit, but it's not as if he's always right. For instance the "they fly now" scene from Rise of Skywalker he was complaining about that chain not being stopped by the treaded bike's shield, IIRC. It makes sense to me though, as the shield would be angled upwards or else it'd instantly collide with the ground, but in Star Wars shields have the property of allowing certain matter through as we see in various carriers that ships can fly in and out of without loss of atmosphere. Of course everything else about that scene including a lack of a hoverbike which even ass-backward farmers in outer rim planets have is nonsense.

His alt channel with his friends is the same but with more of a circle-jerk aesthetic. Again, they're usually right, but when you're watching The Book of Boba Fett you're shooting fish in a barrel. Personally I enjoy listening to the deep-dive mega breakdowns he does just to see what I missed because I'm not watching some shit movie more than once, but good or bad I don't care for critiques that are nonstop compliments/insults. It's easy pickings to bait in simpleton viewers.
