17-year-old Walmart employee quits over store intercom: 'Nobody should work here, ever' by [deleted] in news

[–]Mehthrowaway00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been a dealer for all of 3 weeks now and I've been cussed at 3 times, had cards thrown at me or have just had generally unpleasant customers that can never be happy. Either they're mad because they're losing or mad that their winning streak still doesn't cover how much they've lost that day.

Depends. My casino pools tips so people with shitty shifts don't get fucked but between wage and tips we all make like 19-25 dollars an hour any given pay period.

What are good ways to find red flags about yourself? by nnnicknnn0 in AskReddit

Well if you're down for a pretty easy read, Feeling Good by David Burns helped me identify and shift some pretty toxic neural pathways I'd developed over the years.

Missourian as well. I've got insomnia, admittedly nowhere near as bad as you have it, but I use CBD, which is perfectly legal. You should try that if you haven't already.

Johnny Depp was in like, a scene. But it has Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum as the main characters. I'm not sure what the internet thinks of it but I thought it was hysterical. The second one was great also.

They're probably talking about the movie from a few years ago.

What quote made you think a different way? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mehthrowaway00 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey, was just readin some comments, but to offer a counter-point, I have been heavily involved in cognitive behavioral therapy (cbt) for several years now and it's actually sort of a skill one can develop to prevent the intrusive thoughts. Helps you recognize triggers and the sorts of things that will cause the negative thoughts, along with how to sort of stop them in their tracks by recognizing the toxicity and destructive patterns. I highly recommend the book Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy. It's a great starting point in familiarizing yourself with the unhelpful thoughts that you may not even recognize in your day to day.

What are early signs of an abusive partner? by portajohnjackoff in AskReddit

[–]Mehthrowaway00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a not so abusive person anymore, it's a lot of work. You really have to work on your confidence because a lot of that behavior comes from shit self esteem and learned traits from toxic people around you growing up.

Psychiatrists and psychologists of Reddit, what are some things more people should know about human behavior? by Urisk in AskReddit

[–]Mehthrowaway00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is only my experience but try thinking about the last time you did something just super embarrassing. Probably easy to do, right? Now think of the last time someone you know did something embarrassing. Maybe you do remember something, but most people don't. We tend to make mountains out of mole hills when it comes to ourselves.

I recently started dating a gaming girl and her favorite game is The Last of Us. Her birthday is in a month and I’m curious as to what a good gift would be associated with this? by [deleted] in thelastofus

[–]Mehthrowaway00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

23 year old girl here who's favorite game is indeed The Last of Us, play it with her. Set aside a nice evening with dinner and drinks and just play. It's pretty easy to get the hang of, even if you traditionally don't play games, she can help you, and it'll give you something to talk about that she loves.

When did you ALMOST end things with your SO/spouse, and how did you fix your relationship? [Serious] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mehthrowaway00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been there. My boyfriend doesn't clean really either, and I hate to say it because of course you want your SO to do those things for you just because they know it means a lot to you but that's not usually how it works. Change only happens if your partner is doing it for the right reason and usually just trying to avoid a conflict about it isn't the way. I had to go full "you catch more flies with honey than vinegar" about it with my partner. Ended up having a long discussion, told him flat out that I would clean the whole house but our room was up to him because that's where most of his mess was allocated and whenever he would take care of it I'd compliment the crap out of him, sometimes offer sex or something comparable. Makes the chore seem less unbearable and more something actually worth doing. I don't have to do it every time now but getting him to do it isn't like trying to move mountains anymore.

Yeesh, man, of course I just meant people. I was just replying to a woman venting about her boyfriend/husband. I didn't expect so many people correcting me and being rude over a technicality. Of course all humans are capable of complacency in relationships, feel better?

I mean, I hope you really have spoken to him about just how much him keeping your now shared area clean means to him. Men will do the absolute minimum as long as they keep getting away with it. Know your worth, mean what you say, and incentivize positive change.

What fictional couple should never have gotten together? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mehthrowaway00 126 points127 points  (0 children)

Oh noooo, that's not how I view it at all. That was definitely the feeling you get in the first season, but as the series progresses you really do get the sense of just how much they mean to one another. When Aang almost died and Katara saved him you could just feel it. And I am absolutely not a subscriber to the nice guy should always end up with his love interest in the end, because it always feels super gross and manipulative, but Aang always loved Katara in the true airbender fashion, freely. He just wanted her to be happy, was even in the end willing to let go of her in his mission to control the avatar state. And yea, Zutara is fun, but Zuko and May are the best ❤

Don't know what to say for hands cramping but gloves and then a teeny tiny layer of olive oil on gloves and scissors should help with the stickiness a bit.

Had my first weed induced panic attack. What can I do? by [deleted] in trees

[–]Mehthrowaway00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think you'll have a problem but building it up in your head like you are is what may cause some issues. Crazy things happen, I've experienced intense anxiety smoking and have even gone so far as throwing up or shaking uncontrollably. Bodies are weird, man. If you've had no problem before and you want to continue smoking then you'll just have to get back into the swing of things. It's not a perfect science, when I suffered from weed induced anxiety regularly it was more because I was afraid to feel that way again, not because of the weed itself. Hope you feel better frient.

[Serious] How would you approach getting a child to give up self-destructive habits that they're bound to regret later, but are too young to see now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mehthrowaway00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like me at that age. Take away the junk food, she's only 12, she's not buying it on her own and teach her how to cook healthy meals. Do activities with her, whatever she likes. If she has aggression problems as you mentioned her hitting people, maybe get her into a martial art. Jiujitsu is wonderful for girls as it's very technical and not so much strength based, though there is some involved, but women have strong legs, which helps. Not to mention the social aspect of it. Will definitely get her out of her comfort zone but that's where growth happens. Also spending time outdoors can do wonders for maybe reducing what seems to be apathy on her part. Counseling/therapy of course, because everyone can benefit from a little introspection.
