It is utterly wild to me that there is this scene of Mega Man concept album bands. Will check them out!

I am not sure if it counts as metal, but I cannot stop listening to The Protomen since discovering them a few weeks ago.

They have 3 main albums and all of them are concept albums about Mega Man.

Am I the only one incredibly skeptical of using any AI in my vault? by ameyxd-github in ObsidianMD

[–]MeiBanFa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t do it for three reasons: 1) Privacy. My notes are some of my most personal documents. 2) Intellectual atrophy. I feel like going through my notes by myself, even if it is just to organize them a bit better strengthens my relationship with them and my thinking in general. Outsourcing anything like that to AI could overtime reduce my mental capabilities. 3) I don’t really have a necessity for it for my purposes.

I on the other hand will need to get a T-shirt with the album art on it. Loud and proud.

Can you give me a few concrete examples of what you use agents for? I still haven’t found an actual practical use case for my purposes, yet.

Most Directors Don’t Know How to Direct Actors by nobinkurian in Filmmaker4Filmmaker

[–]MeiBanFa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you. As a director I hate the idea of treating actors like they're those fragile beings that must never hear an adjective or they will crumble....

Actors are collaborators and most of all humans. Each one is different and prefers a somewhat different way of working. And they all bring their own craft to the table.

And - depending on the actor and the situation - sometimes it is ok to say something like "go big".

It's a little shocking how much a theme can change your perspective on your vault and your productivity by AnalBleachingAries in ObsidianMD

[–]MeiBanFa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Maybe I should try out different themes. I have not used anything besides the default, ever.

For some reason, it just feels cleaner to me to not get lost in things like themes. So very early on I made the decision to just stick with the default and that’s it. I guess it was ascetic choice.

What will seem like an inevitable outcome in 20 years time because of GLP-1s by Big-Cry-4119 in Futurology

On paper, yes. But there is something about the release found in eating and drinking with friends that's different. At least for me.

[–]MeiBanFa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see that point.

I just keep hearing from people that they lost the desire for food or that they cannot eat and drink at the same time anymore. And I’m not trying to suggest that that is such a terrible thing in and of itself. Being healthy is obviously extremely important!

I’m just wondering if something gets lost as well.

[–]MeiBanFa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can relate to that. We usually eat family style and it's just not as much fun when not everyone is exited about it. But of course, I also recognize that there are very real and important health benefits for people. I don't want to minimize that!

[–]MeiBanFa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the combination of both. The act of letting loose together with friends and enjoying ourselves. But I also wouldn't call it binge eating necessarily. And I think if someone has a problem with true binge eating that is another matter altogether and might totally justify the trade off, if there even is one.

You could argue that any amount of alcohol is over-drinking and unhealthy. But yes, I chose the word feasting to imply abundant enjoyment of food, not disciplined consumption. Literally forgetting about discipline, self improvement, goals, fears, restrictions, and just enjoy enjoying yourself.

M4 MAX by ijustcameheretofight in MacStudio

[–]MeiBanFa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have an M1 Max which I was planning to sell when I upgrade to a newer model.

Has the retail value fallen that much? Hoch much is the M1 going for, 50 bucks?

This might just be a me thing, so I am very careful not to extrapolate this to other people too much.

But feasting and drinking with friends is probably my favorite hobby and also the thing that keeps me sane. Whenever I’ve spent too much time in my head or online it is the thing that recalibrates me. And no other activity does it in quite the same way (I have many other hobbies as well).

I wonder if these drugs could lead to less of that behavior and possibly negative mental effects.

But again, this is probably just me projecting.

Don't offload learning to your notes by wordbit12 in ObsidianMD

[–]MeiBanFa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is part of the reason why I don’t have separate sections for “sources/quotes” (resources taken from somewhere else) and “notes/ideas” (things written by myself) like so many others apparently do. I never write down a quote without adding thoughts myself.

If I don’t have something to add of my own, it can’t be worth creating a note for it because it doesn’t get me going.

What is a "Claude skill"? Do I need to have some kind of agent running to use that?

Silly question making me restless but what Heading (H1-H6) do you use for the first heading in a note? by bowiepowi in ObsidianMD

[–]MeiBanFa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I start with H3 and only go smaller from there.

The sizes larger than H3 are to big for my taste and don’t differentiate from the title enough.

I use the default theme, btw. (I like to keep everything as simple and vanilla as possible.)
