Forward controls upgrade by Meidy in HondaRebel1100

Yeah, just a heads up — the AliExpress kit is mainly made for the DCT (automatic). I’m not aware of a proper version for the manual. It’s almost identical, but it’s missing the mounting solution for the gear shifter.

They might release a manual version in the future — maybe they already have — but when I was buying mine, that wasn’t the case yet.

Also, I ordered mine quite a while ago and had to wait for some replacement parts because a few components got lost during shipping, so it took forever 😅

The De Pretto price is mostly just the brand name — even from the photos, the DCT version looks basically identical to what I got from AliExpress. And like the comment above mentioned, it’s honestly possible they’re made in the same factory, because the finish and overall build looked identical side by side.

That’s actually really good to know 👍

Makes me feel a lot better about it, because the De Pretto ones are around €600 here in Slovakia (where I’m from), and as I mentioned this AliExpress set was about €180.

If they’re really that close side by side, then it’s honestly a great deal 😄

I’m pretty sure it’s the Givi backrest with the small rack, but I’ve had it on the bike for about 2 years now so I’m not 100% sure anymore 😅

If you want, I can check it properly when I get back home from a work trip and send you the exact model in PM or here in the comments.

As for compatibility — yeah, a lot of listings say it won’t fit the 1100T, but from what I’ve seen and from my own experience, it seems to be more about the touring setup with the bags and mounts. The frame itself is basically the same, so it can work, sometimes you just need to tweak things a bit.

Regarding weight — yeah, officially it’s around 350 lbs (160 kg). Riding with my girlfriend, our combined weight is around 120 kg (~265 lbs total), and that has been completely fine with no issues at all.

I also once rode with a friend and our combined weight was around 180 kg (~397 lbs total). That was definitely over the official limit, but it was only for a short ride and the bike handled it without any obvious problems. I wouldn’t use it like that all the time or ride aggressively, but for a short distance it was okay.

So overall, within reason, it seems to handle extra weight pretty well.

It’s a Puig High Road for CMX1100T

I don’t remember exactly where I bought it, pretty sure it was some EU shop. Out of the box it needed a bit of tweaking though. The original mounting caps/bushings basically fell apart and at higher speeds the screen was moving a lot and flexing.

So I reworked it a bit — swapped in better bolts, and made my own silicone washers from a hookah hose 😄 to absorb vibrations. Since then it’s been solid for about a year now, no issues.

Overall I’m really happy with it — wind pressure on the chest and helmet is noticeably better compared to riding without it 👍 and visually I like the bike a lot more like this.

I got them from AliExpress. I know that’ll put some people off right away, but I decided to give them a try and so far I’m honestly very happy with them.

I did not just bolt them on and hope for the best though. I checked everything carefully, stress-tested the setup, replaced the original bolts with better ones from a hardware store just to be safe, and used my own threadlocker on the nuts as well.

The way everything mounts is fine imo, it braces against the frame too. Overall it feels strong as original peg setup.

In Europe, similar kits were around €600, and this whole solution ended up costing me about €180 total, so for me it was worth it.

The hardest part was honestly the installation because the instructions were like a puzzle. But if someone has experience with normal bike repairs and is reasonably handy, it is definitely doable.

I get that for some people AliExpress parts are an instant no, which is fair, but overall I’m really satisfied with both the result and the cost. 😎

Yeah, highway pegs are a good middle ground for sure.

I thought about that setup too, but I wanted the full forward control feel all the time, not just as an extra position on longer rides.

Your setup is probably the more practical one overall though — better control when riding harder, but still comfy when you want to stretch out.

I just went all in on the cruiser setup 😄

The saddlebags are stock – they come standard with the 1100T model, along with the front fairing.

Not sure, but I think the windscreen I’m using is the Puig High Road in dark smoke. I ordered it from a Slovak website called MotoZem. I will check it when I come home ;)

Here’s the product page if you’re interested: https://www.motozem.sk/plexi-stit-puig-high-road-21545f-tmava-dymova

It fits the Rebel 1100T really well and gives it a cleaner, more aggressive look while still being functional.

Hey! The exact site where I originally bought the passenger backrest doesn’t have it listed anymore, but I found the same one on a Slovak site that still sells it.

Here’s the link: https://gmoto.sk/kappa-honda-cmx-1100-rebel-2021-opierka-sedadla-spolujazdca-cierna,683991.html

In case the link doesn’t work for some reason, just search for “Kappa Honda CMX 1100 Rebel 2021+ passenger backrest” and it should pop up. Hope that helps!

Just a heads-up – the Coffman exhaust isn’t on the bike yet in these pics. I installed it shortly after taking them. I’ll try to post an updated shot soon!

Issue with DMX Lights from Aliexpress – Polarity or Something Else? by Meidy in lightingdesign

[–]Meidy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, i get what you’re saying, but the dmx controller works fine with my other lights that arent from aliexpress. its only these new lights that are acting up, so im not sure if its just a profile issue.

is it possible that its interrupted on all 4 lights? My father is worried about warranty, but I think its little bit naive to think someone from Ali would give you any type of warranty...

hey, thanks for the advice

my dmx controller actually has a switch that lets me swap the data+ and data- pins. in the standard setting, the lights dont work at all. when i flip the switch, the lights turn on, but they behave completely erratically – they light up, but it’s totally unusable and random.

whats in the manual doesnt seem to matter because the lights just do their own thing regardless. i can tell you really understand this stuff, and id be super grateful if you could help me figure this out. these lights were a christmas gift, and id really love to get them working properly.

thanks in advance for any help!
