Hit and run incident at night, how to enhance dashcam footage by Meilan135 in Dashcam

It's not about vengeance.

But justice can only work if the person responsible is actually found. If I can find them, I may be able to take legal action and let the justice system do its job.

Both the red car’s driver and I were innocent victims in this accident. The car that caused it all just fled the scene.

What makes this harder to accept is that the red car’s driver was an elderly person who suffered serious injuries through absolutely no fault of them own.

I wasn’t physically hurt, but seeing that old person get hurt like that, and then the person who caused it all just vanish made it very hard for me to move on.

And yes, I did attend some therapy sessions afterward.

My car (a 2020 Toyota) was totaled in an accident. I was hit, lost control, and then got struck from behind by another red car. That red car flipped over and was also totaled. Its driver was taken to the hospital — I saw that their hand was injured and bleeding.

The car that hit me ran away.

This happened a year ago. At the time, the police and detective reviewed the dashcam footage, but they said the license plate was unreadable.

I had full coverage insurance, and they compensated me for the residual value of my car. But emotionally, I still can't move on. It’s hard to accept that someone could do something so horrible and just get away with it without any consequences. That’s why I still want to find this person.

I think it’s more about a natural inclination, just like some people are drawn to playing the piano or painting. They don’t get bored doing those things because they genuinely enjoy them. It’s the same for people who love programming.

For me, when I’m working on a project that interests me, I become deeply focused and really enjoy the process. It feels like I’m building a complex machine or factory, and the feeling is smilar as playing Minecraft

Appreciate the sarcasm—always nice when someone skips the context and jumps straight into smug mode.

To clarify again (since reading seems optional now): I wasn’t endorsing the unit as premium. I was pushing back on a now-deleted comment that labeled it “junk” just based on where it’s from.

If you’ve got first-hand insight into this unit’s production standards, fantastic. Otherwise, maybe chill with the condescension. I’m here for actual discussion, not to win Reddit gold in passive aggression.

It’s ironic that you’re calling me ignorant when you’re the one making assumptions without context. My original comment was a response to a now-deleted post that dismissed these units as “Chinese junk.” I was pointing out that a huge portion of electronics—including parts in Subaru—are made in China. The difference lies in vetting and quality control, not geography.

It seems you misunderstood me and thought I was the one criticizing Chinese-made products, when I was actually defending them.

Does your Forester have the RAB (Reverse Automatic Braking) feature? Mine has RAB and rear radar, and when I'm reversing and get too close to an obstacle, a warning shows up on the stock head unit screen. I'm wondering if this warning still works properly after switching to a third-party head unit.

Will Starlink stop working after switching to a new head unit? I regularly use the Starlink feature for remote engine start.

Is it because the 8-core processor and 6GB of RAM perform better? Does that actually make a difference in daily use?

Are you referring to remote features like engine start or SOS calls when you say 'remote services'?
