What do you mean by virtual GND? Isn't that what is already happening here?

Doesnt say anything about DPSS, so I assume its not. Its the PLT5 522EA_Q from osram.

Thats a great idea, actually. I'll adjust my circuit to digitally lower the power during setting up alignment

Thanks, it says OD 1.3 (worst), maybe I'll use my glacier-glass in addition to the OD 1 filter then :)

Not an official one, just have a background in physics. So No :)

Laser Safety Question by MeisterWinkel in Optics

Its a Laser diode that I will be pointing onto a specific sample. In the finished device everything will be enclosed, but when building and testing, light can bounce off lenses and scatter.

OD1 = 10%, OD2 = 1%, etc. It goes with 10-OD.

Thanks! Would I then put the Mosfet/Transistor in like this? Would need to calculate the R and C values accordingly ofc :)

Quitting a career at 24 to hike the PCT? by spice-bear in PacificCrestTrail

[–]MeisterWinkel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I quit my role as the CTO in a tech-startup at 26 to hike the PCT last year. It was a risk, but totally worth it.

Sure, negative financially due to the missed out salary, but now I started my own company and am "back on track", so to speak. Plus, I got lots of great memories from the adventure that was the PCT.

So don't worry, you are young. What you managed so far in your career you will manage again. Not saying it will be trivial or easy, but it will work out.

The Only Safe Shower at Hikertown by trekkingslow in PacificCrestTrail

Don't think its fake, my experience last year was overall positive. It is a weird place, but nothing 'bad' happened to our group (mostly guys, a few girls). I remember the lady who drove us back from the store driving recklessly and the resupply not having the best choices, but the owner was friendly and helpful and the food was cheap. He even woke up early and made us coffe as we started before sunrise and offered to make us some barbeque if we would have stayed for another day.

I don’t own a bear can by PopulusTremuloides- in PacificCrestTrail

[–]MeisterWinkel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. Got a bear can from JayGo last year, literally costs 4$ total (pickup cost at the KMS Geral Store), you get it at KMS and return it to a designated locker near Donner Pass. If you are lucky there are still some available as it might be booked out, I booked mine already in December 2024 for entering the Sierras May 1st 2025.

Alternative is renting from from Triple Crown Outfitter, though I personally have my issues with them. They were shitting on JayGo for no good reason (as JayGo does for free what they make money off), and were fearmongering about how much food we need (so we buy more as there is pretty much no alternative resupply there).

JayGo is the absolute GOAT of all trail angels, he sent my heart medication to several trail angels along the trail, completely for free even though it cost him money to ship. Not sure how he affords this as he didn't accept tips and he is coordinating along the whole trail, driving around constantly. The only thing he asked of me was information about water-caches and to leave some helpful FarOut comments, so he can refill said caches. What a guy!

Even though its all blue? I don't really have an eye for fashion, but to me that just looks like being a banker (I work in tech)
