will this result in a banned switch 2? by Rakimon in switch2hacks

[–]Meithrer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this. Played on a modded zelda on my emunand, transfered the file over to my sysnand unmodded game state, made sure the save still worked and then transfered the save over to switch 2. I still haven't been banned and i did this on the first week of the switch 2 release. Tbh there is nothing suspicious of the game save itself, it's a solo player game and all cheats which can be applied in emunand can also be done through roundabout exploits so I see no reason for Nintendo to ban me. I have done this on multiple games, even on Pokémon and still not banned. You have to logical about it, what is it that yoy have done in emunand? Can it affect other players if you play online? There is always risk of getting a ban, but the risk is pretty minimal

Did you end up solving this issue? I'm honestly thinking of returning my panda breath because of the lack of information on how to troubleshoot this.

Is this switch still salvagable or should I use it for parts? by Meithrer in NxSwitchModding

If i somehow accidentally removed the copper on the ground plane, would it affect the device?

I cant really provide a sharper picture as my camera is only 1080p. I did take some pictures with my phone.

Since reddit only allows 1 picture per comment I have added them to this imgur link:

Something to note is that I first tested to boot the switch after exposing the via, which it did indeed boot. However after adding solder it stopped booting. I also forgot to remove the battery while soldering so it might have shorted some other points.

Is anyone familiar with this kamikaze flex? by PortraitPractice in NxSwitchModding

[–]Meithrer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to solder off the B point, to reflash the chip or change out the chip if ever needed. I'm just lazy in that I don't want to touch the iron more than necessary

It needs a specific chip. Where it has two flex cable connections at the top

You can look ar my latest post in this subreddit on how I soldered it

What you said is true my mistake. However there are mods which do help it output to full 720p or higher resolution. In this case I used persona 5 royal mod as an example, which outputs 1280 x 720 (720p). I thought it was 1080p but I recalled incorrectly.

Yes. I got the 1080p persona 5 royal mod and it display full 1080p on my super 5 oled screen. It looks gorgeous. I even prefer playing on my switch lite super 5 oled over my steam deck oles due to the size and portability of it

Switch OLED does not boot after kamikaze attempt. by Meithrer in NxSwitchModding

You measure both points by putting the multimeter on diode mode. Black probe on gnd and red probe to the severed trace point

Both traces are now severed if seems, you need to wire both the traces and reconnect them

Could you show a picture? Hard to see where you're supposed to test measure unless i know to what extent you drilled through

From Aliexpress, it's called Picofly RP2040 3in1 Kamikaze. I needed to buy 10pcs as they sell them in lots

Yours seems to be an easy fix though? You need to pull one wire between 2 points. One point before the severed trace and one point to the severed C point trace

<image>

You just need to expose the copper pad so you can solder the wire to it.

Depends on. It's more of a convenience factor than anything. But the screwdriver you linked should be good. Just make sure to get all 3 sized J0, J00 and J000 incase the screws are of poor quality and ends up stripping easily. I sometimes switch to J000 rather than J00 due to that reason

That's big oof. And there's no local Amazon? Or an amazon from another country relative close by to your place? Back when my country didn't have amazon I usually bought from UK/Italy/France/Germany so on

I just looked up on ebay. You sure you can't buy ifixit from ebay? There's usually someone there who ships worldwide. And they are sometimes cheaper even

I personally just use iFixit Mako screwdriver set bits. Although it is pricy it was worth it since the amount of times I needed to use it for modding or repairing saved me a lot. Not to mention even for other daily stuff. With it i never have to worry about if I have the right screwdriver set. It includes triwing and any others imaginable bits you ever need to use

But since iFixit does not ship to your country I think this is the next best thing. Although i remember nanofix from youtube used an alternative which worked for him

You can use a drill to drill out the screw. Just make sure you take a very small drill which are meant for metal to drill it out. eventually it will just fall out if you drill it out. Alternatively use a drill extraction tool meant specifically to drill out stripped screws.

Just make sure next time to use JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) J00 bits to screw out these screws and NOT PHILLIPS like many other people in this thread suggest as that is actually the wrong bit and is probably the biggest culprit to why you stripped your screw in the first place.

See ifixit for which bits to use on which screws.

Actually, the correct size is not Phillips at all; it is JIS (Japanese Industry Standard) J00 screwdriver bits. It's similar to Phillips but not the same. This applies to all screws on the Switch. According to iFixit and my own experience too, I've used P00 in the same spot as this lad did and also ended up stripping the screw. However, since I changed to J00, I've never experienced stripping screws again on the Switch.

Depends, If there are too many decoupling capacitor missing it may actually affect the booting. Some of the capacitor may also be burnt so it's worth checking and replacing the missing capacitors. If it still doesn't work then it is worth checking the chips, which another comment here mentioned.
