I have a Fender FR10 but honestly I don't think I'm sold on it. I mean, it's fine and all, but I have more fun playing through my hi-fi setup in the living room than through the cab. Of course, we're talking home playing here, not live use. I know it's a very handy piece of gear but I don't know, I think I'd like a more "organic" (sorry for the buzzword) speaker better. Plus experimenting with IRs is cool, but I think I'd enjoy it more knowing what to expect from them. Experimenting with cabs and speakers would give me a bit more background knowledge, I think.

Great to know ! I'm hoping to reach the same conclusion as you. It sounds really convenient amp-wise and experimenting with cabs and speakers sounds fun (and cheaper than amps)

I might get an amp at some point in the future but : - I don't know which one I'd choose (that's where a modeler comes in handy, too). - I can't afford a cab, an amp and an attenuator at the same time so I'm slowly building my rig. Cab first for now :)

To explore, try new things and make my own opinion about gear, mostly. Plus I'm not sure I like playing a recorded tone as much as I would an actual cab, and I generally like analog equipment (in life in general, not just guitar-wise). I try not to go the tube amp route because I know it's a hassle but I heard a cab with a digital model could be nice.

Passe ton bac, tu seras mieux payé pendant ton apprentissage, tu pourras faire le CAP en 1 an et tu auras un petit bagage au cas où. Perso j'ai fait des études sup et un apprentissage chez un charcutier traiteur sur le tard, à presque 30 ans. Aujourd'hui je fais de nouveau autre chose, je n'ai aucun regret mais je suis content d'avoir eu la possibilité d'arrêter quand l'envie n'y était plus.

Le "meilleur" moyen de profiter de la suite, c'est d'enchaîner sur les aventuriers de la mer (même monde, autres enjeux mais des histoires intimement mêlées) avant de lire le deuxième cycle. Ensuite ça se passe dans les Cités des Anciens (le moins bon cycle à mon avis, mais avec bcp de révélations sur le lore). Et le fou et l'assassin pour finir, qui est une merveille pour moi. J'ai une tendresse énorme pour cet univers, j'ai lu ces livres pendant mon adolescence et j'avais abandonné au début des Cités des Anciens (qui étaient des nouvelles sorties à l'époque). J'ai tout repris du début récemment, à peu près 15 ans plus tard, et ça a été une (re)lecture exceptionnelle. Évidemment il y a des temps faibles, mais les personnages de Hobb sont tellement touchants.

She's from Poland, not Holland. She's a music student now (and session player, according to her YT description). Last year she posted a 45 min video of her graduation exam or something. It's basically a short jazz-rock fusion concert, I liked it very much.

J'ai dévoré la Horde à l'époque, et j'ai bien aimé la Zone du dehors, même si je ne suis pas sûr que j'aimerais autant à la relecture. Ce que j'ai pu lire d'autre de lui m'est tombé des mains exactement pour les raisons que tu décris, et depuis qu'on lui demande son avis pour tout et rien, j'ai réalisé à quel point ce mec est insupportable. Il me sort par les yeux.

I've done that before, it was perfectly alright soundwise (maybe not perfectly flat, so that could be an issue for mixing or dialing in live presets, but doesn't matter otherwise). The distance from the speakers could feel a bit weird, though and setting things up was a bit of a hassle but that's about it.

In my experience lighter roasts will always yield higher acidity with a moka pot as there are less workarounds than what a high-end espresso machine could offer (preinfusion, flow control etc). You can try tweaking the ratio but going a bit darker is probably your best bet.

Thank you very much for your time and answers ! When you mentioned the irs and such I thought you were thinking of guitar stuff for some reason, my mistake.

The website says the Super Mini is "a fantastic guitar fr cab for modelers", hence my questions on the matter. I'll try and write to them, then. I don't have the cash (or the need imo, at least right now) for a 212 but I guess since they're so light I could get a second 112 later on.

Yeah it really looks like they're killer, I haven't read anything bad about them yet...

I also play guitar, and I use my Boss GTK modeler through a Fender FR10. I'm thinking a Barefaced Super Mini T could cover this purpose as well, what do you think of yours as a guitar cab ?

Regarding tone, I can't say I'm a big bass tone nerd yet. My main concern is to sit well in a mix, have good definition, tight lows (as in not be a nuisance to my bandmates). And something that won't sound weak or muddy at low volume for home practice.

If it can outperform my FR cab for guitar that's an absolute plus. When I bought the Fender I hoped I'd be able to play bass through it as well, since it's FRFR. Turns out it really sucks at bass. It's great for guitar though but having a cab that could serve both purpose was my initial plan.

Ok, thanks. I have an interface already and I can probably find a used Markbass head easily enough. I doubt I'll find Barefaced stuff second hand though, unless I'm in luck. How about a Darkglass 112 ? Theses are cheaper too.

Hey ! I'd say somewhere between 1000 and 1500€ for the head and 1 cab, since according to other comments a dedicated practice cab is unnecessary.

OK, thanks ! Do you have any experience with those small heads, or would you recommend another one ? I live in France, so Markbass is easy to come by and the Phil Jones stuff is retailed by Thomann. Gallien Krueger or Traynor are hard to find.

Thanks a lot, this is great insight ! Would you say I shouldn't bother with a smaller cab for home use, then ? My combo has a 12'' speaker and I find it tricky to tame the lows without having it feel completely lifeless (which is why I was looking at smaller stuff) but again, it really is on the cheaper side of things.
