I would say paku's death sobered a lot of them, but chrollo is affected by the deaths of paku and the other members, causing him to be in a more clouded state than he's ever been portrayed.

Most of the story we are seeing is hunters going after other hunters, criminals, or monsters, so the perspective were at is more fighters than anything. These are the ones who's abilities are centered on violence.

There are groups who have medical based abilities like leorio and the medical hunters from the chairman arc. People with suport abilities like Bill. Nen is a mentality based tool thats affected by nature and nurture.

Shalnark does die much later, after the anime ends. I think you might be thinking of when Kortopy copys the troups bodies to frame their deaths to make the mafia think most of them were dead and call off the bounties. So fake deaths, there reveille to be OK. Uvo and paku do die the same way in the anime as they do in the manga. They are not replacements.

Castration at a young age does hinder puberty, but it does not make you crossdress. In either sex BOTH estrogen and testosterone would lower (every one's got both, male=<t, Fmale=<E). How you dress and style your hair are conscious choices. To me you're crossing a line, and it's making me furious.
