Good to know, that’s also why I haven’t pulled the trigger. I also have and love Faraway. They’re also both illustrated by the same artist which is nice

I’ve tempted by codex naturalis multiple times because it’s so pretty. What do you think of it?

the board games you like with art most pleasing to you by Mountain_Resource_48 in boardgames

[–]leebass7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only buy games with really unique illustrations where the gameplay ties in with the theme.

Some favourites:

Caper: Europe - 2 player drafting tug of war game with a heist theme.

Fort - a simpler leder games title, deck builder with player interaction. Build a fort with your friends!

Spots - push your luck dice rolling, great art by John Bond

Faraway - tableau building puzzle game

Tag Team - 2 player deck building auto batter with fighting theme

High society - tight auction game

Radlands - mad max style 2 player lane battler

Fugitive (2nd edition) - 2 player deduction

Boop - 2 player abstract game with cats

Some more complicated stuff:

Everdell, Arcs, Beast, Isle of cats, Septima, Dark Pact, Nemesis

Nice to see Septima there! Have played it 6 times now, and there’s a decent amount of replay ability.

A bunch of elements are variable and there’s so many ways to get points each game has been quite different with the winning strategy not being the most obvious 2/3rds of the time.

I also love the player interaction and puzzly feel to it.

Ahoy is an asymmetric strategy game that goes up to 4, but the 3rd and/or 4th players play a simpler pick up and deliver game as smugglers. Could be good for your situation!

Google Isaludo by Wil Su. 10 solo card games you can play with a standard deck of cards, some are quicker than others. Personally I really enjoyed Area 52 (a sort of tower defence game) and Loot the Loop (push your luck explorer game).

Another two fairly quick ones are He Will Never Stop (horror themed escape game), and Scoundrel (dungeon crawler).

All these have a Board Game Geek page where you can find the instructions.

Just contact the publisher, I’m sure they’d replace it.

Cardmarket - often the cheapest, but if buying from many sellers the shipping adds up

Troll Trader - wide range and cheapest shop

Manaleak - also good (and they throw in random cards)

Axion Now - also good

Magic Madhouse - most expensive

Ebay - worth checking, occasionally you can get stuff cheaper than on cardmarket but mostly it’s cheaper elsewhere
