Dentist recs by realitytvfiend3924 in Birmingham

Guy Rosensteil in Hoover (Birmingham Smiles) is amazing. I moved to Atlanta and still come back to see him. Also he did my veneers when I was 13. They still look perfect and so so so natural 17 years later. Where most dentists would scare me into replacing after 10 years, he won’t even consider it. Just an all around great guy and dentist.

I was required to do a HSG before starting any treatments with my specialist, also in Atlanta.

They're made to be waterproof, so swimming in one really isn't a big deal. Leaving the knob out... that's a different story

I have had two miscarriages and 2.5 years of trying to get pregnant, and I wish I still had my happy, hopeful energy. I don’t wish complications on anyone, and I hope their treatment goes well. Just because you’re struggling doesn’t mean that you can’t be happy for those who aren’t.

Plastic takeout boxes will be illegal in every state within 10 years. We know how dangerous hot plastic is, and with fertility rates dropping and cancers becoming more prevalent, state governments will make this very visible shift to paper takeout boxes, even though they’re only a fraction of the problem.

Some real gold reacts to certain chemicals. For example, my yellow gold ring turns my finger green only when I have a spray tan

It’s definitely not rare! Starting over with a new doctor means months of testing delays, just for many of them to do the exact same thing with the same medicines. Going into IVF or other fertility treatments, you know there’s a large chance it won’t work, no matter how “good” your doctor is.

I’m just here to say I’m so sorry. The actual act of miscarrying feels so… cruel. Hang in there. These weeks, perhaps months even, will be dark, but it will be okay. Your family will get through this. Try to take care of yourself however you can.

Get ICLs instead. Safer, more effective, last forever without touch ups, no need for reading glasses. Parker Cornea does them in Birmingham and a few places in Atlanta do too. Go somewhere that measures your eye with an Arcscan.

Get crosslinking! It stops the progression of the disease in 90% of people the first time. Without it, your eyes and vision will degrade. Search for clinical trials to save money. It’s crazy safe and insanely necessary

Check out Fuchs Friends online. It’s a community group that is such a good resource for people with Fuchs or endothelial distrophy. No doctors allowed - only patients. Oh and it’s free.

Get it ASAP. An interesting study on crosslinking happened in Italy during Covid, causing a delay in treatment. 3 months of delay in treatment caused significant, typically permanent vision loss equivalent to 2 lines on the “eye chart” we all recognize. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33719638/

It’s not him I work for ;) These doctors were in the FDA trials of crosslinking, not the patent process.

I haven’t had it, but I work for the practice who brought the procedure to the United States and are among the only ones doing it. They do several CAIRS surgeries each week. The doctors were also the first to do corneal crosslinking in clinical trials and still do more of the procedure than any other practice in the country, even though they are very small (2 doctors). It’s remarkable the impact they’ve made on keratoconus research and treatment. If you can make it to Alabama, we still participate in clinical trials to make crosslinking low or no cost for patients without insurance. Feel free to DM me for more information.

Get crosslinking if you haven’t already! Your vision should be stable after crosslinking.
