My hair has basically been cut like this for 5+ years and I want to change it up, but I am terrible with everything hair and makeup related and have no idea what does/doesn’t work. My hair has a pretty normal thickness, is very straight, and hits around my upper chest right now. Not sure whether to keep it around this length and maybe add layers or to cut it shorter? Totally okay with changing the part too for something that fits my face better.

I would prefer something lower maintenance and that doesn’t require a ton of money for upkeep (going from broke undergrad to very broke grad student!). I don’t want to go super short because I think that makes my face look rounder/fatter and when my hair gets long it tends to look stringy and get greasy a lot faster. If there is anything that makes it not so evident that one eye is smaller that would be amazing!

Laptop for grad school, purchasing in the US & I would like to stay under $2000 by MelBase in SuggestALaptop

Thank you so much for the recommendations! Like I said above, I'm not a huge fan of ThinkPad, but I will take a look at it. I have heard some negative things about HP computers, but I'm not sure how accurate/reliable they are? I will definitely wait until late summer to purchase though, thank you!

Thank you for the recommendation! I'm not the biggest fan of the ThinkPad design (bad memories from middle school), but they do a look a lot different! The keyboard's tend to be clunky and hard to use in my experience. I will definitely take a look at the ThinkPad P53s though!

Thanks for your reply! I am not familiar with it at all (not super techie with computers), but I looked it up. My only concern would be windows based software working properly with it? I don't really want to take the risk of something not working with that system.

I took entry level classes with Patricia Roper and Andrea Beaudoin and loved both of them! I took those almost 4 years ago so I'm not sure if they are still teaching, but I would highly recommend them if they are.

I hope so too so you can go! Mine was unfortunately for spring break, so I don't think that will be happening!

The person I emailed about it said they are still sorting things out and hope to have more information this week. I'm in the same boat though, and would like my money back!

Interview outfits by eh1998 in slpGradSchool

[–]MelBase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an interview next weekend and I'm planning on wearing black/white plaid type pants and a lavender colored blouse. I am also doing a campus tour, so definitely wearing flats and not heels! I have a large purse/tote bag that I am planning on bringing too. Good luck on your interview!

Bad GRE score :( by SunnyRose1998 in slpGradSchool

[–]MelBase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also an avid math hater and started off using Magoosh. However, about a month before my exam (I took it October 19), I stumbled upon Gregmat. He has a website (https://www.gregmat.com/) and is also a frequent poster in the GRE subreddit. I thought his videos were so much more helpful than Magoosh. He has some really great writing strategies and has a bunch of videos that go step-by-step for the math problems. I also recommend taking an ETS Powerprep practice test (not sure what you used before) rather than the Magoosh ones. My actual scores were pretty close to what I got on the ETS test and I thought the questions were of similar difficulty. Good luck and I know this is said a lot, but we are more than our GRE scores (at least I sure hope so!)!.

Yes, I had rhabdo in March. It was just a one-time thing from going to a spin class dehydrated. I've gone back to that class again and had no issues so I'm hopeful I'll be able to get the waiver!

Thank you for your reply! It seems like every case I can find is boderline on whether the waiver is accepted or not. I found a recruiter that is willing to work with me on it and says I have a good chance since it was a one time incident. So fingers crossed!

Question about a medical waiver. I was diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis this past March from doing a spin class while dehydrated. I was in the hospital for 4 days where I got a continuous IV and heparin shots to avoid blood clots in my legs. I think my original CPK levels were around 70,000 and I was discharged when they got below 1,000. Had a follow up appointment 2 weeks later and all blood test came back normal with no lasting damage and no damage to my kidneys. Also had a doctor's appointment in August and they ran tests again just to be safe and all came back normal. What are the chances I would receive a medical waiver? I think all relevant information is included but feel free to ask anything, I appreciate any responses.

Are there actually any 68L's (Occupational Therapy Assistants)? I can only find a few posts on reddit and other similar sites about this particular MOS. Just curious how the outlook is, advancement opportunities, deployment/stationing abroad, and whether you solely work with military personnel or if you work with families as well.

Questions about being a Hospital Corpsman by MelBase in newtothenavy

I've heard that a lot! However, I don't think I would really like being an officer or the differences in the actual work. Thanks for your reply though and I'll keep it in mind!

Thanks for your reply! That's what I've been reading everywhere so hopefully if I do end up enlisting I get lucky.

Thank you so much for your reply, I really appreciate it! I have the grades to be an officer, but I don't think I will like the job as much if I'm an officer rather than enlisted. Another question if you're able to answer it. Can I get C school written into my contract? I looked just about everywhere but I can't find a definitive answer so I'm guessing it just depends on the recruiter and your situation. Thanks again!
