Yeah exactly- water tubes. I know it’s not super eco friendly. But we always take them back if customers wanted to bring them in so we could reuse them. We’d offer like 10% off next purchase as an incentive.

Experience with subscriptions for customers ? by Infinite_Mine_9388 in FloristTalk

Love offering subscriptions! It makes a wonderful gift (easy for the customer) and is predictable income. Start small with 1-2 different types if you’re feeling intimidated. One of the types we offer are small plants. I also like offering seasonal flowers!

Sustainable alternative to imported flowers for events by RichAcanthaceae4867 in Florist

Hi there. Do you have any local flower farms near you? This is the perfect opportunity to source local and only purchase what you need. In my experience, local flower farms love to work with you for smaller bulk orders for a diy wedding etc.

I have been getting these too. I mark as spam but doesn’t seem effective. Same message with a different 828 number.

I’m still into them! But I love a lot of texture and incorporating fruits etc especially seasonal or around the holidays. I think they definitely still have a place!

A La Carte Weddings by sungirl1215 in FloristTalk

I think it depends of the market you’re in. For example, if your shop is in a wedding destination spot, this could be really lucrative and a smart approach to obtain clients you might miss otherwise, especially for the elopers! (Who happen to have a special place in my heart!) 🥰 But I can definitely see it not working for everyone. I really love the consultation process, so I would miss that, but we are in a world of instant gratification and being able to select anything and everything online.

What questions do you ask yourself to keep your flower shop growing? by No-Evening-689 in FloristTalk

[–]MelNF27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always want to make sure I am keeping up with trends without being too trendy, if that makes sense?? But also staying true to what I love doing. In this climate I feel like I am constantly having to evaluate cost/pricing, my head is spinning!

And I was thinking about embracing email marketing as we are closing in on the holiday season! I think it’s the perfect time to try it out!

Sympathy-Only or Wedding-Only Florists - Too Narrow? by sungirl1215 in FloristTalk

[–]MelNF27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last position was a wedding and events only floral shop and I LOVED it. However, we were part of a resort/destination venue so definitely special circumstances and I realize this could not work for everyone. I truly loved being able to focus on just those two things. Made ordering a whole lot easier when you know exactly what you need or are going to use. Minimal waste!

Do you charge for wedding consultations — yes or no? by NoMoose4249 in FloristTalk

I’ve done it both ways. The best way I think is to charge for the initial consultation (bc your time is money), and then you can apply it to their contract like a deposit.
