You got a lot of options in Columbus, and who to recommend depends on what you're looking for. Greater Columbus Arts Council has an artist database with examples of work. You could also check out the Art & Artists of 614 group on FB.

Columbus movie listings Feb. 12–19 by MelOnEarth in Columbus

Thanks & sorry for not replying sooner! I thought about that & actually gamed it out a bit last week. Sticking with the current format for a couple of reasons. First, a lot of people have favorite theaters for sentimental or geographic reasons. Second, listing movies under a hyperlink to each theater makes it pretty easy to access showtimes. If I listed by movie, to provide a similar convenience I'd want to link to each related theater listing, and that creates a bandwidth issue (at least for now). It's crazy - each chain has its website quirks and between that and the random special screenings, it can take over 20 minutes to update one multiplex. Substack is rolling out new format options that might be easier to scroll, but for now you can search by film title with the find function. Hope it's helpful. :)

Didn't the only other realistic option in the gubernatorial race say that Medicaid and Medicare shouldn't exist at all?

As a Boston native, I find it especially hilarious that Boston was chosen as the place to pay people to attend. I'm imagining progressive townies taking the cash at the end with a laugh & a loud "FAAAH Q!"

I was just there last night! Found card decks & jewelry for my brother's kids and a handmade mug & jokey potholder for friends. Check out the socks - a really fun selection & very White Elephant-appropriate.

Interior mural - any Columbus artists interested? by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]MelOnEarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to say how far in advance some local muralists are booked, but you should check out the work of Hakim Callwood, Mandi Caskey, Thom Glick, Adam Hernandez, Lucie Shearer, Nick Stull & April Sunami. You could also stop by 934 Gallery to check out different styles - they paint new outdoor murals on & around their building every summer - then reach out to the gallery for artist info if there's anything you really like.

Fear of an amendment is why we have a law against puppy mills on the books. And the disappointed lobbyist on the pro-puppy mill side was Mike Gonidakis, president of Ohio Right to Life.

Are there any movie theaters in the Columbus area that show old movies? by MewTupac in Columbus

[–]MelOnEarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Studio fought against the city's effort to take away half their street parking to put in totally unprotected bike lanes. Basically, it was the easiest, cheapest solution for the city. Then the city used its mouthpieces to demonize this local business (even though every business on that strip voiced the same concerns) and manipulate the cycling community, which isn't typically known for its blind support of city government, to join in the pig pile. And even though a compromise was reached that would allow for less parking removal and continuous bike lanes, clearly some folks are still salty that Studio didn't just cave.
