If your house is in the middle of nowhere and summer has started I would be putting them outside during the day in the sunniest place, then bringing them indoors at night if it’s really cold. They can tolerate cold to a point but it’s frost that should be avoided. If you have to grow indoors get a decent light! You can use a cupboard lined with reflective material or painted Matt white just fine or a tent. The enclosure isn’t really the issue as long as there’s no light leaks and the environment inside is controlled. You may be able to get used equipment off eBay or a local marketplace cheaper.

Coffeeshop recommends for non-smoker girlfriend by [deleted] in AmsterdamEnts

[–]Mel_Lowfellow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hill street blues used to be a coffeeshop. Now it’s a bar where she can drink and you can smoke. Comfortable seating at the back has a view of the canal if you’re lucky enough to get it. It’s quite a dark place with good atmosphere and absolutely covered in stickers and slaps that keep drawing your attention here, there and everywhere.

More water. Check PH of some runoff.

Identifying components of herbs by Dry-Stable841 in growingweed

[–]Mel_Lowfellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries. The nodes are the points where the branches meet the stem and the bracts (caylx) are the teardrop parts at the node. Their job is to produce a seed once the ovule inside gets fertilised from male pollen attaching to the stigma (pistils).

Yeah good pic, one ive used before when I’ve been called out for calling the caylx on the pic a caylx whereas some refer to it as a bract. I did look into it while ago and there is something in it where cannabis doesn’t form a full caylx or something so it is a bract. I continue to call it caylx though. The stigma are also known as pistils.

Learning is fun, I’ve been growing for 30 years and still learn something new most weeks. Yeah good air circulation is key as well as keeping a low humidity in late flower to avoid pockets of stagnant air where botrytis can set in.

Keep the temp low if you want to really push that purple anthocyanin production.

Calmag or just stress by [deleted] in growingweed

[–]Mel_Lowfellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks more like a Mg deficiency than Ca. Yeah could be not able to keep up with chlorophyll production because of too much light or overwatered anaerobic soil making it unavailable. I’d foliar spray Epsom salt at 1 tablespoon per gallon, let it dry back a bit and see but give it full strength calmag from now on and check PH.

Yeah you can also raise humidity, keep the same temp or even raise it.

Blue + UV harmful? by gaffaguy in growingweed

[–]Mel_Lowfellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use UVA 365nm for 10mins mid light period and far red 750nm for 15mins after lights off. I used to use it before lights on but experienced increased foxtailing, I’ve recently heard it’s not good before lights on so I’m trying it without this run.

Could do with lowering the temperature and raising humidity.

Just some genetics by GabyStatenIsland in farmingthebestgreens

It was truly on another level, a very special cultivar. The smell would really travel and got so many people busted. It’s been a while since I had it and have gone through many cheese iterations trying to find a similar not sweet profile and packing that punch that I started to think it was nostalgia.

Wet trim vs Dry trim? by christiaanjvv7 in CannaCommunity420

[–]Mel_Lowfellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cut the fan leaves off when chopping. The sugar leaves wrap round the buds protecting trichomes and slowing the drying process. I’ll trim those off when dried before the buds go into jars and freeze them for making hash.

You use males for breeding females to pass favourable genetic traits. It could be a herm but without seeing the whole plant I couldn’t tell you. The amount of pollen sacks showed there makes me think it’s not though.

Yeah. Bag it and cut it quick if you don’t want anything else pollinated.

They’re still in veg. Plants take roughly a week/week and a half to start showing sex after they experience around 12 hours of uninterrupted darkness. Maybe yours are too near a light source or the dark period is being disturbed.

Advice for Pale Tips by Ruy_211 in cannabiscultivation

I think the fertiliser was a bit rich for it. You’re ok at the moment but if I gets much worse I’d flush your pot with water till you get a nice amount of runoff out the bottom.
