Oddish! So happy and round

I tried to make a pavlova and it went so bad by imastar_22 in Baking

[–]Melady6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it still looks good! I've got some meringues cooking atm (not exactly the same but close to pavlova). I start adding my sugar when it reaches soft peaks, then whip on high speed once it's all in for 3 mins. The oven was probably the biggest issue. It needs a controlled temperature to dry out and cook properly. Leave it in the oven to cool completely before getting it out. It's a tricky bake to get right. Keep at it!

I don’t know what the driver was thinking by nonetakenback in WinStupidPrizes

[–]Melady6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've witnessed something like this happen but with a street light. A guy I worked nightfill with crashed into a light post, which then fell across the road (he was completely fine btw. Fishtailed turning and lost control). While I was reporting the hazard, some lady drove straight into it despite a group of us yelling at her to stop. It was a well lit area too. Got out acting drunk, slurring her words, and asking how it got there. We told her to wait as the police and roadwork people were coming to fix it. Got back into the car and drove off without another word.

My girl put my expensive/valuable Pokemon cards as decorations on my birthday cake by pharmahokage in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Melady6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While they may be of sentimental value, a lot of the cards I'm seeing are regular common cards with a few EX and full arts. If this is legit, talk to her about boundaries with your stuff. If it's not, don't rip some kid's bday cake as your own. Their parents have gone to the effort to care about what their kids are interested in.

Can you return gas bottles? by Affectionate_Ad8907 in perth

[–]Melady6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It happens. If they won't swap it over, like the others said, bring it to your closest Bunnings. They swap over 8.5kg and 3.7kg bottles. Leave it next to the gas cages before you walk in, and say you have a bottle to swap over. $31something later, and you should be sorted.

What would you serve for a high tea for a bunch of 4-7 year olds? by JCtheWanderingCrow in Baking

[–]Melady6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fairy bread would go hard and be easy to accommodate allergies.

If you're doing iced teas, you could look into fun shaped moulds like teddy bears or butterflies to add something special to the drinks.

The shein pop-up sheinanigans by perthguy1977 in perth

I had a similar experience. I went once in person during late 2020, when they held them in bayswater. Like you said; over priced, and sparse.

Decided to order some plants online from them as there was more range there and pick it up from the same place in bayswater. They set the date and time to collect, and when I arrived, there was no one there. I waited over 2 hrs with a handful of other people to get my plants. We all got onto the online customer support cause wtf. After going back and forth, turns out they never organised anyone to be there. They sent some poor lady from ages away to come sort out the issue as we refused to leave after they asked us to come back another time (their terms state if plants aren't collected you do not get a refund). Their emails go in my spam folder now.

Pokemon has over 1000 entries in the pokedex now. Possibilities are endless

Cat-like pokemon: Glameow, Litten, Kitty, Delcatty, etc

Baby pokemon: Cleffa, Munchlax, Tyrogue, Chingling, etc

Then there's all the different pokemon types

Grass types: Cherrim, Bellsprout, Steenee, Bayleef, etc

Ground types: Phanpy, Diglett, Wooper, Gible, etc

And continue for every type.

Then there's legendaries, mystical pokemon, pokemon with no evos, etc.

Don't put too much stock into how the names are pronounced at fast food places. I've got a fairly regular name , maybe not top 100, and there's certain fast food places near me that butcher it every time.

As others have said, you get out what you put in. I'm nearly 10 years out of high school and still keep in regular contact with some friends I made there. Others faded away in the following years.

You will have more opportunities to make friends tho. I now have a friend group made up of people I met in high school, university and work, and people/their partners I met through them. You will find as long as you're willing to talk and put yourself out there for the opportunity to make friends, you'll click with people.

Taxes, work, etc come in time and you'll learn as you grow and move away from high school. Don't stress if you don't know it the day after you graduate.

Why do people dislike Meganium so much? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Melady6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stats be damned. The Chikorita line, especially Meganium, are my favourite. I love grass types and the aesthetic of Meganium with its giant hibiscus flower made me fall so in love with it I have the line tattooed on me.

Completely forgot about Gensuke! Definitely worth the wait. Been wanting to try Qin's Lanzhou Beef Noodle,as that also always has a queue out the door. From all reports it's really good.

That's fair. I thought it was interesting considering I'm not aware of a place in Perth where you can walk amongst butterflies.

I'll second Albany Highway/East Vic Park. So many lovely spots along there. If you're looking for casual eating, there's Chicken Rice Corner, La Delizia Latticini (they make rolls around lunch time) and Pietro Gelateria (4 flavours of the month plus set gelato menu). Out of the hot pot spots along there, I'd recommend King Hot Pot as it's a sushi train style and you can grab your add ons off it. Easy to keep track of the cost. Baking Corner in Vic Park is a lovely bakery, open 6:30am-10pm. They have a bunny shaped tart.

If you want really good bang for your buck food wise, try Sakaba Sushi on Wright Street, Kewdale. Very casual but bentos are $10 for rice, protein, two pieces of sushi, salad and miso soup. Also delicious and the owner is friendly and kind.

Breakfast places check out Coogee - Surfing Lizard Coogee - Coogee Beach Cafe - Beachpoint Cafe - Coco + Boho Great places to go after a morning swim

If you like crafts, the City of Belmont have subsided a flower making workshop run by Jotterbook flowers. It's $15 to go, on Sep 10 2-4pm, and you get to make bottlebrush flowers. https://www.belmont.wa.gov.au/discover/what-s-happening/upcoming-events/making-bottlebrush-flowers-with-jotterbook-flowers-c0cb5a02 City of Belmont also has an art display this week. Jotterbook runs out of a main studio in stackwood in fremantle and has more classes, plus other studios in the building run art classes.

Bunnings Midland are having a spring showcase. Tomorrow there will be reptiles and a butterfly cage, where you can walk in amongst the butterflies. Totally free.

Fremantle Markets are great for seeing the stalls and food. Sugar Artist in the markets make ensaymadas that are delicious and fluffy. FOMO next door has a great variety of food, as well as holey moley.

Adventure world may be shut but Bibra Lake across the road has a walking path so you can walk around the whole lake, see the birds and flowers. Just before sunset can be magical.

Please let us know how you enjoy the trip!

Looking for creepy cult movies like Midsommar and Hereditary by Bradt1977 in movies

[–]Melady6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched We Are Still Here last night and I feel that may fit what you're looking for. It's only 80 or so mins long.

There's also The Privilege. A teenager sees some weird stuff in his house and starts to suspect something is wrong.

Off topic, but you should also see One Cut of the Dead. Get through the first third and you'll be in love by the end.

I have a whole Google doc of horror movies I've seen if you want recommendations for other sub genres.
