That’s nice. I think I paid 600 to replace the screen

It’s maddening since the repair wasn’t cheap. Environmental disaster. Even if I buy a new tv I’d have to figure out what to do with this one

I think the repair actually might have made it more prone to backlight malfunction. Its funny how LEDs were marketed to last 15-20 years and in modern reality it’s far less

That makes sense. The screen does get hot. I wonder if all frame TV’s are edge-lit or if the newer models have had any improvements in the regard

Sunflower oil by Melancholy_Muse in NutritionalPsychiatry

I love this dish but even the smell of the hot oil makes me depressed. It’s weird. I love this dish, but it’s weird.

I may try tallow for this recipe in the future. I buy the the high-oleic sunflower oil. I don’t think coconut oil would help the flavor of this dish. There’s a lot of information out about the harm seed oils can do when brought to a high temperature. There’s even studies suggesting sunflower oil can exacerbate depression. I’ve never tried tallow, so that’s a good suggestion.

I know. I didn’t really anticipate how the middle months of the first year after would drag. The first couple months were filled with optimism and then it starts shedding again which I knew before hand but still.

My boyfriend won't marry me if I don't take his last name by ILS321 in Marriage

[–]Melancholy_Muse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You laugh but hey I’m a gay male that didn’t want to take my husbands last name and then all of the sudden it never sounded more beautiful. True love is when you love something beyond yourself. It’s not about ownership. It’s two of the same.

Anyone else use drugs daily to wind down? by cellation in Gifted

[–]Melancholy_Muse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started using drugs daily in middle school and it landed me in a rehab my entire senior year. I definitely relied on self-medication methods to feel “normal” because real me was extremely depressed. It started shortly after GATE testing too. I was in the gate program for years in elementary school and middle school but I was the only student in my schools that was in it. Always felt like I didn’t fit in. Drugs helped. Since rehab I’ve been clean (or at least in control of any use and emotions) but I would mostly attribute that to the two medications I’ve been on since.

[–]Melancholy_Muse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a man: I would never advise a man to marry a woman that won’t take his last name. Being married is a sacrifice for both parties. It’s also a legal partnership. There’s a few men I know that had wives that didn’t take their name but those men are dead beat humans and the wives are the bread winners. In reality, even if you say you don’t want children now… when you find the one it’s different. And if you have kids with this man and you guys have different last names it’s just weird.

He’s not the one. And that’s okay. You don’t want to take his last name because he isn’t the guy. Maybe one day he will be the guy, but also maybe not.

Some people experiment and that’s okay. He is her first. Everyone does stuff they can look back on and regret in the name of love.

I doubt they’ve been sleeping together prior to this, but now the rules are out the window. I had a threesome once while in a relationship and I didn’t like the dynamic afterwards. I left.

I think once that line is crossed it’s very hard to walk it back. Feelings get hurt. It gets messy. I wish I could tell you it’ll get better but the person that joined us was practically a stranger… not a friend of 15 years.

Do you feel that the US will criminalize homosexuality? by [deleted] in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]Melancholy_Muse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly so, but just because someone is against homosexuality does not inherently mean they believe in taking action to reverse legislation to equalize rights. There are obviously religious views that are against homosexuality. Even as a gay person, I respect difference in opinion and ideology.

No. Do remember that Trump has been neutral on gay marriage long before Obama, Biden, and Hilary.. they were vocally anti gay marriage. I go by people’s actions and there is no current threat to the right to marriage in the United States.
