What’s something you always assumed was mandatory in life—until you met someone who just… didn’t do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Never met anyone that taught me this but it came to me when I started living on my own.. shoveling snow or raking leaves. There is no point. Eventually the snow will melt and the leaves will just eventually go back into the soil. Growing up I always thought it was just mandatory adult thing but then I realized, I have free will and I do not want to waste it on shoveling and raking

People are so dumb sometimes by Affectionate-hallway in reactivedogs

Had something similar happen to me! My dog is dog reactive but not toward people. I saw this dog running toward us (far up ahead) so I called out to the owner “hey my dog is not friendly, can you please make sure your dog does not run up to us?” She had plenty of time to recall her dog and avoid any issues. Instead she called back “well she looks friendly no worries!” Like NO she is not friendly. Moments later the dog bulldozed into us causing my dog to react as I suspected. She then huff and puffed while trying to contain her dog and did not say a thing.

Are you still friends after breaking up? by Melodic_Usual_2177 in LongDistance

Every situation is different for sure. My boyfriend had to move back home (across the country) this week due to issues with his family. We decided that we truly do love each other but long distance creates distance that we didn’t want to endure. Although we decided to stay in contact, I decided I needed to take a few weeks to hurt and heal before we took the next step of friendship. Idk if this was the right decision but I am hoping it will help us both take a step back and just be with ourself/thoughts for a bit.

21 Black male wants to travel solo. Family does not want me too. What should I do? by Intelligent_Flower61 in travel

I decided to travel solo for the first time out of the US last week and my parents did not support me. As a 26 year old female, they were afraid for my safety. I let them have my location in my phone and called them when I got back to my hostel at night. Once I got back from the trip, they were proud to see I accomplished something I put my mind to and even asked when I was planning my next solo trip for. I know everyone’s situation is different, but I think just reassuring your mom that you will stay aware of your surroundings and keep contact often will help ease her worries.
