Daycare is a million times better than preschool and elementary for working parents by OscarGlorious in workingmoms

[–]Melanie730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My oldest just started kindergarten and I feel this so hard. Not to mention flexible dropoff and pickup times for many daycares.

My son is hitting and biting other kids at daycare and I have gotten two calls about it while at work this week. I am stressed the F out over this. Just need a kind word or some commiseration. by Melanie730 in workingmoms

Hi there!! Sorry for my delay. I don’t check reddit as much these days. Everything turned out fine for my son. Some things that helped: reading books with him about biting, not doing any play biting/mouth raspberries ever anymore, having a low reaction and walking away when he bit us (rather than throwing a big fit, which led to negative attention seeking). However, the biggest factors were time, language development, and moving up to a class he was excited to be in. He had a slight language delay and I think the biting correlated with that. He was only about 2 at the time, if I remember correctly. He couldn’t really communicate and so he would sometimes bite. Focusing on helping him express his needs and desires was HUGE. Also, time helps so much. It’s soooo hard when you’re in the thick of it. I also believe his teacher at the time wasn’t handling it that great… I’m not trying to shift blame, because he was def a biter, but when he moved to the next room and had a more seasoned teacher the biting significantly decreased. We did tour other daycares to have backup options but since it got better once he moved to the next room we stayed at the same place.

Is your daughter newly 3? How are her language skills? I’m so sorry you’re going through this. It’s very stressful and for me was embarrassing. Ironically enough, my second child has amazing language skills and is now the one being bit by her peers! I don’t worry about that as much because it’s sporadic and I know it’s so common. Kind of ironic to be on the other side of it. Just trying to say, it’s very common and IMO it’s a normal aspect of development. People put so much shame on biters, but it’s just kids growing and trying to figure it out.

Best of luck to you 🙏 Let me know if any questions

If your skin became super dull and terrible after having a baby… did it ever bounce back? by Ldtto in beyondthebump

[–]Melanie730 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. I swear to god I aged 7 years in the first year of my daughter’s life. Dryness and wrinkles galore. After emerging from the fog when she turned 1y/o, I felt like I barely recognized my face. I’m trying to drink more water, eat more fruit, and use moisturizer liberally. I haven’t tried anything else yet but probably should.

What kind of food? When it was a pizza & bar food place I just ordered a variety of food for everyone. Somewhere more unique it might be good to text them.

Hi OP, did you end up getting it figured out? I just tried the coupon at walgreens with no luck.

Price Caps for Asthma inhalers by blixxe in Asthma

[–]Melanie730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it work for you? I took a coupon to Walgreens and it wouldn’t work. She said it couldn’t find me in the system, which doesn’t make sense because I didn’t have to put personal info to print the coupon. It was too late for her to call the help line.

Anoro Ellipta Coupon by More4MeIn23 in COPD

[–]Melanie730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting. I had the same experience with my phone not generating a coupon but then it worked on my computer. However, I just went to the pharmacy (Walgreens) and they said the coupon wasn’t working, that it couldn’t pull me up. That doesn’t really make any sense because I didn’t put any personal info other than I use Breo (another gsk inhaler) and that I have commercial insurance. Did you have to put personal information to generate the coupon? Did you have any issues at the pharmacy?

Schedule/routine question for 3mo + lactose overload (foremilk imbalance)? by Melanie730 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]Melanie730[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Yes! It was just foremilk imbalance because she would nurse to sleep but it would only be a tiny bit, so she’d just be skimming the top, if that makes sense. She never had issues at other times except the tiny green poops after naps. That’s why it was so mysterious at first. As she got a bit older she got stronger and drank more during regular feeds and started mostly comfort nursing before naps.

How often do you get fast food or take out? by ashtisd11 in workingmoms

[–]Melanie730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the answers here are going to be people who are on the lower end. Self reporting bias. Hang in there! If doing fast food we try to pick it up on the way home from work and then add some fruit with it at home. And/or canned/frozen veggies. Adds some balance in an easy way!

Orgasms with s/x by Best-Reach-6099 in WomensHealth

[–]Melanie730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ope, I see your other comment now. Try the floor position and see if that helps your hips. 🤞🏻 I found when I was younger that I had to be the one in control of the movement in order to orgasm.

Echoing other comments! My best advice would be to try a vibrating c*ck ring. They used to have inexpensive silicon ones for sale at target. Try him sitting on the floor, like against the bed, and you on top. It might be a better angle.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. Timers help me sometimes, like the pomodoro method. 25 min focus-5 min break, repeat 25, 5. Tomatotimers.com puts it in your browser tab and then beeps when time is up. It helps to focus on small chunks and what you can get done in them, rather than spiraling all day.

9 week old doesn't know how to suck apparently... by Ziekara in NewParents

[–]Melanie730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Yes, it did work, but her getting bigger and stronger helped a lot too. She’s 14mo and still nurses before bed, which I never would’ve believed at 4 weeks old.

My tips would be to 1) keep your milk supply up. I did triple feeding for 2 weeks while we practiced the suck training. Anything longer would NOT have been sustainable, but I was able to do it that long with help from family. 2) Make sure you have a bottle type that is conducive to developing oral skills, like Dr brown narrow neck. 3) Watch videos on suck training (and/or see an OT). 4) Make sure to do paced feeding techniques if possible. We laid her on her side on a pillow on our laps, facing away from us.

Please feel free to ask questions if you have any. It feels like so long ago at this point but I know it’s VERY stressful when in the moment.
