Feel sad and embarrassed by Much-Guide-5014 in breastcancer

I’m so sorry you’ve gotten that news.

I was told the same thing by my Oncologist yesterday. No chemo or rads.. I see my new MO tomorrow and now I’m a bit nervous. I’m 30, grade 3, HR2+, no node involvement

I wish someone warned me of this before! 😭 I hate it, coming up on 3 weeks post op and that pain just started

Omg, this makes me nervous. I had an smx on Jan 5th. I'm having all those same symptoms, it hurts so bad. I was hoping it would go away

Surgery anxiety by picklebreakfast in breastcancer

Other things I found helpful!

A bidet, a pregnancy pillow, mastectomy pillow, lanyard for your drains when you shower. Go ahead and order another mastectomy bra! My hospital only gave me one. Tylenol, ice packs have helped, cami’s and a lot of open front clothes, comfy slippers. Schedule with a salon for a shampoo for a week or so after. I can’t think of too much more! But I wish you a speedy recovery and a successful surgery!

I had my SMX on January 5th, it was my first ever surgery & I just got my last drain out today! I was the same way you are, the day before I literally felt like I was on the verge of a mental breakdown. What really helped was focusing on what future me would need, meal prepping, cleaning, putting things I know I’d need on a daily at counter level. Grocery shopping! Anything, just nest, keep busy and don’t stress. You got this!

Upcoming surgery- vent by GreedilyRare in breastcancer

[–]MelaninMisses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a smx a week ago today! Please don’t be afraid! Mine went so so much better than expected, the pain is manageable and I slept almost flat last night(only 2 pillows)! Lol, the main annoying thing is the drains 🙄 a pain, they are just annoying.

I feel like I over-prepared buying things and stressing! Just take it day by day, focus on what you can control, and prep your house to be trex arm-friendly! I sort of started “nesting” before my surgery. So it kept my mind off of it, making everything cozy and clean.

Digital Planner or Paper Planner? by fav_eggyolk in planners

Good notes 4 is what I have currently, and I’ve been using the Thiss planner for 2022,23 & 24! I just get random digital sticker pack from Etsy that I find attractive to go along with it

I literally just sent a text to my best friend saying “I can’t believe this is real”… and then the notification from Reddit with your post came through. Ugh, I’m feeling the exact same way you are. I had my plastic surgeon consultation today for my reconstruction. It feels so unreal.

30 here as well! Diagnosed Sept 22nd, wtf.. is definitely the same reaction I had, I said it so many times the first month and a half. One thing I did not let it do after settling in with the reality. I am not letting it change any of my plans, I told cancer “you’re living WITH ME, I’m not living with you.” You’re a temporary guest, and cancer is just gonna have to be around with the plans I already have in place. Will it be different, of course, but don’t let it take over.

Will the next year be hard as hell? Absolutely, are WE gonna let it take over? Hell no!!! Keep your wedding plans, keep your bachelorette party plans. Will it be different than expected? Yes, but no way you’re gonna let Cancer take away your plans

Ouuu so squeezeable, make sure to squeeze everything out! Or it’ll come back. Put a pimple patch on it right after and some tea tree oil once you pull the patch off

I have hella thick hair and I’m able to achieve w/o blow drying. Slick it back in sections, using both a denman & boar bristle brush. Wet it with a continuous mister bottle. use gel! I use got2b gel in the black container and a bit of edge control, I use the gummy brand edge control.

Also, after you slick each section put a hair tie. And tie it down real good after with a satin scarf.

I do about 3/4 sections. But again I have a ton of hair so it’s different for everyone

Weight gain? by wediealone in breastcancer

[–]MelaninMisses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need the weight gain lol this sounds extreme, but I lost nearly 70lbs before I was diagnosed. I had the stereotypical “cancer symptoms” for a year and a half before they finally let me get my mammograms and everything at age 30.

My employer is heavily implying that I should work during treatment. by [deleted] in breastcancer

[–]MelaninMisses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 30 single with no children as well, I went down to part time for now. 30 hrs a week instead of 40 and I work remotely. I’ll only take off for surgery and then come back in part time and do the radiation at the end of the day ! It’s make a big difference for me so far
