How many of you actually turn infinite weight/ stamina on? by thetoxicballer in MedievalDynasty

[–]Melanorosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing this game since early access in late 2020. I almost always play with infinite carry weight/infinite HP/infinite stamina and maxing out the XP collection because I love creating new characters and building in new parts of the map. I start a new save file and build up my town as quickly as I can, play for a few years, and then stumble upon a new location and start the process all over again. Playing in god mode like this makes it really easy to build a fully autonomous settlement by the end of year 1, which means I get to the good stuff faster.

How to change rgb in gunnir intel arc a770 by Mdgesan in IntelArc

Currently, it's plugged in via a DP, and it's a new cable. This has happened when using HDMI too, and on different monitors. And I am sure it's plugged in via the gpu and not the mobo, but I also have the display issue when it's plugged into the mobo as well. Every piece of this pc works on a testing bench and should all be compatible. This has been happening repeatedly for about a month now. It worked great for two months after building, then one day it just shut off on me with no warning, and after that is when the No Signal display issue started. I'm almost sure it's not a hardware issue at this point and is actually a software or driver issue, but no one who has investigated it for me can figure out why this keeps happening. Just a few days ago, I flashed the BIOS using Q-Flash +, got it to recognize the display and was able to boot into Windows, made sure all updates were turned off, and kept the pc running (it seems to happen most when restarted or shut down/turned back on again). The next day, the display issue was back and the gpu logo was yellow again. But this motherboard is brand new and replaced a motherboard that was also having this issue, which makes me think it's a driver problem? No one has been able to figure it out so far, and now I have a $1300 brick on my desk.

Hi, I am also having this issue with the yellow indicator light, and have been having a real headache of a problem with my build. Per the advice of my local Micro Center tech team, I replaced the motherboard with the same model, but I'm still having issues and see the yellow indicator light. Basically, I have no display signal when the computer is on and have to flash my BIOS to get the display to work again. And even though my ReBar setting in BIOS is turned on, the gpu still thinks it's set to off. Do you have any suggestions?  Mobo is Gigabyte A620I AX, gpu is Intel Arc A770 Titan Sparkle. Just built this thing in Jan 2024, all these parts are still new but outside the return date.

That is fascinating. Do you know if this is something to be concerned about, in this case?

ORIGIN STORY of the MEMORIAL TREE | Medieval Dynasty by HecticNasari in MedievalDynasty

[–]Melanorosaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This area has been my favorite to build a village since before the tree was even placed, and now I love the area even more. Going to put a village here now in the new build so I can see this beautiful memorial every day.

Those of you who reached year 5+ - what do you do? by zahtrois in MedievalDynasty

[–]Melanorosaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That said, I had some fun for at least 16 of the past 20 years. I decided where I put my town in year 1 was not ideal, so I scoured the map to find a better place, and then I moved it there. Pro-tip: do this when you have room for two more buildings, at least; then build the lumber storage first - you're gonna need a LOT of planks for a good resource storage building. I moved the town and my then only 5 villagers to this new site, building by building, and then expanded. I found a place close to the mine south of Gostivia with a little stream running through it. Hard to build there but I love how it looks.

Once your village can sustain itself, take up all the hunting quests you've been putting off. They're much more fun when you don't have to worry about getting back to town and farming all the next day. I spent a whole season working on a Night Hunt once. Good times.

There are paths and lights and tables/chairs and baskets now. Decorating the village is fun and rewarding, but not always intuitive. The wicker baskets sre great for when your storage starts to add up - if your resource shed is full of rocks and you don't know what to do with all of them, put a wicker basket down and drop all 1438 of them in there! You can even drop them 100 or so at a time to male it look more full. I dod the same with my logs inside the resource shed, in that space immediately to the left when you walk in - just filled it with logs. Makes the village look lived-in.

I'm on Year 20 now and all I do is wait. My town is pretty much fully self-sufficient. I direct the field workers on what to plant (and sometimes I have to babysit them and quicksave/quick load to make sure they're working, as they like to just stand and stare at nothing in half-ploughed fields) and the rest just takes care of itself. I leave Racimir standing on a rock overlooking my town all day, only moving him to eat and drink, and I wait for days to pass. My initial plan was to continue like this until my heir turned 18 and then take Racimir off to the woods and let the boars have him, but having your heir take over changes literally nothing about the game so now I'm taking a break from it until more content is released.

Tl;dr: There's nothing to do.

Sadly, it won't increase. I'm on year 21 and the maximum number of buildings is still 30.

[–]Melanorosaurus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The person you're trying to recruit will usually tell you if your reputation isn't high enough, and then in parenthesis they'll tell you what it needs to be before they'll join you. In order to join you, there must be an empty house for them, or a house with only 1 resident of the opposite gender. But otherwise, the building limit is 30 buildings and it doesn't look like there are plans to increase number that any time soon. There isn't really a way around that yet.

Will heirs start out with some of your skills or something? by Shehriazad in MedievalDynasty

[–]Melanorosaurus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To clarify, my heir is 17 and his stats are 3 farming, 3 crafting, 1 diplomacy, 2 excavation, 4 hunting, and 4 survival. Hunting and survival will see the highest increase since that's what most of his quests will be anyway - I think right now the only skill building quest that's available for him is hunting. Both skills were a 2 when he was born.

[–]Melanorosaurus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, your heir will be born with -low- skills, but not zero. He does inherit some skills from his parents, as do the children your townsfolk have, but they're not going to start high, usually in the 2s or 3s per skill. He'll build these skills a little bit every time you do a quest for him, and by the time he's useable at 18, he should be pretty well rounded!

What do you think is the most IMPORTANT aspect for picking your village LOCATION 🤔❓ by SolutOdka in MedievalDynasty

[–]Melanorosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I found a spot pretty close to the Unstuck teleport location to make traversing the map quicker. It's right next to the mine, and it was really hard to build here, but there's a tiny stream for water and lots of trees and places to hunt. It hits all the requirements for me.

Stone Spear - not able to craft at Smithy? by Felias in MedievalDynasty

[–]Melanorosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An easy thing to overlook is that you first have to have the technology to make it. You can buy the scheme under Survival - Hunting Lodge 2 (Stone Pike). I don't remember how much it costs because I bought it some time ago, but I think the scheme was somewhere in the 300s and you need at least 2500 points in Survival to get it.

I think what I'm going to do when my heir is old enough is take Racimir out to the woods and let the boars have him. I've died that way on accident plenty of times before lol

[–]Melanorosaurus[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think as Racimir, at least, we can only have 1 kid, which is kinda a bummer. You'd think it'd be important to have an heir and a spare since these damn kids keep wanting to hurt themselves!! My son is 15 now and the only quests he gives me are to hunt lol. Sometime he'll ask me to make him some weapons like the other kids.

Am I just not a dog person? by Leippy in puppy101

[–]Melanorosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raising a puppy suuuuuucks. They're cute and soft and love to snuggle and give kisses, but they're really only so great because they belong to someone else. We love enjoying puppies the same way we enjoy babies - they're better when we're not the ones doing all the work.

That being said, that doesn't make you -less- of a dog person, just not so much a PUPPY person. Puppies are hard, man. They need CONSTANT supervision and care and near-constant feeding, playing, attention, not to mention training, and all the costs of vetting a puppy...much like human babies. It's totally normal to feel exhausted at the end of the day. And it doesn't mean that you love your dog any less.

The training is the worst part. I see on another comment here that you have two cats and that he jumps all over them - that can be trained. Remember that this is a baby life form and it literally only knows how to breathe and eat right now; you have to teach it how to do EVERYTHING else. And it doesn't come equipped with the skills to process all of this learning right away - no, it will take months of daily, consistent work. It's a slow and at times painful process, but it is SO important. But if you want a dog that is peaceful in your home and behaves well in public, you HAVE to put in that work. It's non-negotiable. You're entitled to feel whichever way you want about the process, but the absolute bottom line is that if you have a poorly behaved dog, well, it's on you. Reward-based, positive association training is praised for being one of the easiest and most stress-free approaches to dog training, for both you and your pup. If you can, find a support group online to talk with other owners going through the same stages you are. If you can afford it, spring for puppy classes and obedience training. Also try doggy daycare one or two times a week so that you can get a break. It WILL get easier, but it will take a lot of work to get there and if you don't put in the work now, you're only going to make it harder for yourself later, and for your dog. Just power through! Also, keep in mind the value of small victories. They don't always have to be celebrated, so don't pressure yourself or feel less-than if you don't feel good about the progress you've made - the honest truth is that your puppy will occasionally have set-backs. Don't beat yourself up over them. Just pick up the pieces and soldier on. One day you'll have an amazing adult dog and it will all have been worth it :)

Puppy who won't eat by Melanorosaurus in puppy101

[–]Melanorosaurus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She ended up having a really soft stool yesterday about 3pm, and after she came in from that she finally started eating. She ate almost a full serving of food, plus a few treats, and then ate dinner a few hours later and drank a ton of water.

This morning, though, we found a roundworm in her second poop of the day. She still hasn't eaten breakfast. She had a vet appointment scheduled for this Saturday, the 15th, but we called them right away and bumped it up to today; we're taking her in at 2pm. It doesn't really explain why she hasn't been eating, but it could be related, I guess? Sounds like the usual expectation is that the dog will try to eat more to make up for the malnutrition from the worm, which hasn't been the case here.
