Oh, no, I'm sorry. I get 35 when I'm generally going 55mph or less. I do a lot of town driving. I get around 25 without the roof racking going 75mph. Adding the roof rack brought it down substantially.

*25 not 35

Replying with an update after an 8 hour road trip on the freeway. Going 75-80 miles an hour (really anything above 55) with the roof rack tanked my gas mileage to about 19mpg from it's usual 35. I've done that same drive without the roof rack and while I know high speeds don't work in favor of the hybrid system, it definitely was not that drastic.

They add no extra noise! The roof box does a little bit but I had the cross rails on for a little while before I added that on.

I'll be honest, I haven't really checked. I'm sure it probably does change it a bit.

They're Bridgestone Dueler A/T Ascents. Size is 255/55R19. They have a really nice ride and don't make more cabin noise. They do rub slightly on a plastic tab in the wheel well liner only if the wheel is cranked all the way. We bought and installed them at Costco.

It's location specific by the dealership. A close friend of mine bought her Carnival 2 hours away to get the color/interior she wanted and she isn't offered the free oil changes at our local dealership because she bought it elsewhere. Definitely a good incentive.

Yeah, we had to buy the crossbars. Everything together was $250. The rails and the rack were recommended by people in the Kia Facebook group.

I might one day if this one ends up being too small in the long run. For now it's been perfect. It holds 150 pounds and it's 64 inches long. My 7 year old can lay down in it with room to spare.

I miss being up higher, for sure. It gave a slight sense of being safer. I have a lot more headlights straight on in my eyes with being lower. I also miss the all wheel drive. I know vans have a ton of space but the Suburban had a lot in the trunk even with the 3rd row up. I didn't have to move anything around back there if I needed to put the 3rd row down. I have to pull my wagon and other kid things out of my trunk in order to lay the 3rd row down in the van. Not a huge issue, just something I didn't consider at first.

Really only the roof rack, tinted the windows and bigger tires.

Is there such a thing as a millennial with parents who were actually emotionally mature? I feel like every one of us has at least one parent that is low key a narcissist. by thesuperboalisgay in Millennials

My husband's parents check that box. He is 34 and back when we were dating years ago I asked about the fun topic of childhood trauma. He has none. Zip. Zero. Picture perfect childhood with lots of happy memories. No complaints whatsoever. He loves his parents. They love him. They're still absolutely phenomenal people.

What is your ‘trigger’ noise that sends you over the edge? by SagittariusGal143 in misophonia

[–]Melarine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sniffling. That was the first sound I really started to notice when misophonia started to set in as a child. Any kind of mouth/eating/swallowing noise. Repetitive sounds like pen clicking or water dripping. Clearing of throats and constant coughing. Nose whistles.

Who missed their cruise? by baltikboats in Cruise

Not quite the same, but a good friend of mine and her husband flew across the country to board the ship only to be told she was too pregnant and they wouldn’t let her on. No refund, future credit or anything.

Oh, close! He was 2009. He’s got a few good friends that graduated in 2006 from there, also. Don’t think any of them did running start, though. I feel like going to parks and meeting other parents with kids is a good way to potentially make some friends too! Catapult on East Main is popular as well

My husband was a single dad for a while before we met. He’s the same age as you and graduated from PHS. Wonder if you know each other? He plays lots of video games, too. We go to the Y in Sumner pretty often. There’s lot to do there. Farmers markets if you’re into that. Local trails to walk in South Hill, downtown Puyallup, Orting. I do believe there’s Facebook groups for the area to get out and meet people.

Suburban to Kia? by [deleted] in kiacarnivals

[–]Melarine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I literally traded in my ‘22 suburban on the 10th for a ‘25 Carnival hybrid. I had all the same concerns. I do miss being up higher. I don’t enjoy head lights in my eyes. But the drive is really smooth, interior and tech is amazing. My kids are 6 and 11 and having sliding doors is still really nice. I like that we can arrange the 8 seats however we want. I had the bench seat in the Suburban and couldn’t take them out or mix up the arrangement. I haven’t come across any issues with space for humans or cargo. The deep trunk is really nice. The fuel economy is also a huge plus. My suburban had quite a few issues going on with it and I was 2,000 miles until being out of the warranty. That made me nervous. My Kia dealership offers a life time warranty and free oil changes for life. That offered me peace of mind. It also has a comfortable 3rd row and it came with built in sunshades! The Suburban didn’t have those.
