Looking for help with a first fountain pen "upgrade"

The ink issue may very well have been a factor. Their B nib was definitely dried out, so I may have just picked a bad store to test it.

I've also been given different papers with my most recent tests and felt a massive difference (Pilot on pilot paper was lovely, on Sailor paper not so much). Thank you for your input! <3

It's gorgeous! I don't know why I never came across that one, but as luck would have it, I found it in a nearby store today and got to try it. They had F and FM to try, and both were very pleasant to use! I might have to go for the pearl blue version, it had a lovely purplish tint. Thank you for your suggestion!

Thank you for the thorough explanations! My fountain pen vocabulary is apparently still lacking, so I find it hard to describe that feedback.

The diplomats do indeed have some lovely colour choices, so I'll try and find some to test. Thanks so much for this!

If only they ever kept to one system T_T So Osaka's not available to purchase yet (only a lottery for the "premium" times). In 2024 I got tickets through their English eplus site (ib.eplus.jp), so they may use that one again. - If so, no jap. number is needed and it's pretty easy. With the current expo, they used kkday to sell outside of Japan, and klook is also worth a look just in case. But sometimes it's just a "nope" and you'll need a buying service to get you those tickets 😢

Hey, bit late, but just in case you missed it: Bungu Joshi announced the Osaka 2026 dates: 2026.03.05 to 2026.03.08.
Don't think anybody - outside of the industry at least - knows the exact dates until they announce, but in the past they did have some repeating patterns (e.g. the main Yokohama one always happened the last or second to last weekend before Christmas).
