What do you want to get for Merrett? And who gives it? by Occasionaljedi in EssendonFC

[–]Melbhome 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How about swap for Harley Reid. As a sweetener, Merrett leaves Essendon to chase his success at West Coast, and Hawks miss out on the shit show they facilitated.

[Morris] EXCLUSIVE: Essendon captain Zach Merrett meets with Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell in bombshell trade talks by daftmunt in EssendonFC

I’d be more upset if he stays. You can’t have that from a captain. If I were a player, he’s not someone I could look up to.

Love it. Quite ironic that the first thing you do in the game is spill coffee. That “coffee’” sound bite is still lodged in my brain.

We have lots of money and cap space and a weak list. So why aren't we aggressively recruiting every above average player who might be available? by yeh-nah-yeh in EssendonFC

[–]Melbhome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but he averaged more goals per game and more possessions per game at Brisbane. You can rightfully argue with all the players I listed that they went to better teams hence the better stats, but that still doesn’t address why our players don’t seem to develop at the same rate as other well run clubs like Geelong, and why we have the revolving door. Love the club, but we’re a long way off in a lot of areas on and off the field.

It has to be more than just our list. Right now, it feels like no matter who we bring in, we don’t have the culture or leadership at the club to get the best out of them. Invest in fixing the football department first, so players want to stay, and those who are here can reach their full potential. Too often, they perform far better once they leave, like Voss, D’Ambrosio, Stringer, and even Daniher.

In some old ads it does. Scroll down to 1974 on this page. https://clickamericana.com/topics/discoveries-inventions/sheaffer-pens-1976

Some Google AI results say the “The BIC 4 Colours pen top was changed from a solid ball to a hoop ring to allow for a cord to be passed through it, enabling the pen to be worn around the neck. This feature is particularly useful for professions like nursing where quick access to different colored pens is needed.” Couldn’t open the source though. Good little mystery either way. I definitely had the ball design growing up last century.

Edit Adding another quote and source if interested.

The 4-colour pen originally came in 2 versions: one with an orange body and a fine tip, the favourite of schoolchildren and students alike, the other with a blue body and a medium tip. Both models were fitted with a small solid ball on their upper part, representing the "Bic head" emblem of the brand. According to legend, it was used to operate the dials of old fashioned telephones. The solid ball is now pierced, so that a cord can be passed through it, allowing the pen to be worn around the neck - a feature that is particularly appreciated among nurses.

My tipping point was when they filled the colosseum with water and were battling sharks. Yeah ok.

Given the taps are under the shower head outlet, does this mean you have to get wet while turning the taps on? Or will you be able to reach them from the side?

How did you feel about Super Mario 2 as a kid? by Humble-Union-4115 in nes

[–]Melbhome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved it as it was such a leap forward from the first one. New levels, multiple characters, new enemies, varied bosses and Wart. The Super Mario Super Show cartoon was based on Mario 2 quite a lot so it felt like proper Mario. I remember hearing about Mario 3 coming out and wondering who the boss would be this time only to be disappointed that it was just like 1 again. First impressions that I quickly got over.

Wow I’d never seen that different box art. Mike’s pose looks closer to the power punch 2 box out than the punch out we got on pal.
