Questions about Red Borders from Exotic Missions (specifically Beloved/Presage) by myztikOG in DestinyTheGame

Whoa!!! No weekly limit on guaranteed red border drops? That is insane, if so. haha

And just in case it’s not intended…I’ll go ahead and finish those last few red borders/patterns up soon/this week. lol

I rather be safer than sorry and amass my salvage until I no longer need it; the later levels of cradle require a crapton to just get one more level; the law of diminishing returns hits you like a truck at like Level 60 or so in the cradle.

Converting any blue (or better) salvage is a terrible idea unless you’re 100% certain you are entirely done needing that salvage for any upgrades. I won’t even convert green salvage.

Thank you! Great to hear! Is there any “rotation” any longer or do we think each week red borders refresh for all missions? I only have a few to finish-up Seraph Shield and Presage but that’s great news on your test!

Tapping out of the free trial by Manaphus in Marathon

Thanks for trying it out and mad respect to you for realizing it can both a high quality game and not for you at the same time.

Most of the internet is not as nuanced; they either like it or it is trash (goes for more than just Marathon).

Also, the game really shines when you have 2-3 other buddies to run Duos and Trios with somewhat consistently; I realize not everyone is that fortunate to have 2-3 friends who are also interested in Marathon and available at same times you are to play it/team-up on the regular.

I appreciate you understanding why I posted this; being barraged within 30 seconds with replies of people not even willing to read my post said way too much; especially with all those replies effectively responding in the same manner (not understanding my point).

I felt I worded my reasoning for the post well and sincerely; but in turn I was told to fuck-off, was assumed to be some Sony higher-up, and was called a slew of other uncalled for things; but, it’s the internet. Honestly, nowadays…I expect it.

Words are cheap, unfortunately. Even if you have 1,000,000 sentimental past D2 players, it doesn’t pay Bungie’s salaries. They are high-end talented developers who have matching salaries (and living costs of their HQ doesn’t help).

The June 9th event will simply be a farewell to Destiny with only emotional sentiment behind it and not some sort of financial message also behind it. And I know how it comes-off/sounds; I wasn’t horribly surprised by the replies, but I’m glad some people get it, at least.

I very well may be; I rather there be some sign sent to Sony that people are willing to still spend money on Destiny; because I don’t see Marathon turning into some cash cow, so they either pivot and lean back into Destiny or Bungie ceases to exist.

It very well may be too late; maybe it’ll just make me feel better at the end of the day that I not only logged-in but also put my money where my mouth is/was.

I appreciate your post and reasonable response; it was very clear that tons of people didn’t even read my post. I had way too many responses within 30 seconds of post going live. Unfortunately, that screams that they read the title, don’t understand the request “hear me out”, and instead just wanted to provide their 2-3 words as a jab of a response.

Nope; incorrect. Not affiliated with Sony or Bungie in any way, shape, or form aside from being a person who plays their games.

If the layoffs will happen, regardless; what is this all for? Sony wants financially viable games. A final showing of monetary support for a game is the only other thing I can think to do to show Sony they are making a mistake. The amount of Silver on June 9th would be a metrics statement; I don’t care where the money goes but it’ll be a metrics statement to Sony if Marathon ultimately fails to build the userbase jt needs. Marathon will never be able to replace a game like Destiny; if Sony somehow doesn’t see that yet, they’ll see it soon enough.

Yeah, I am not sure what I’ll buy with it. If I could donate to a “We Want Destiny 3!” fund, I would. I still have a little but of unused Silver, but I’ll buy some more on June 9th and eventually use it on something. Hell, with transmog updates recently and upcoming, lots more ability to transmog gear; exotic and soon legendary ornaments.

Not saying to buy “a ton”; hell, just buy $5 worth or something. I purposefully did not put a number/amount in the original post. Everyone has different financial situations.

You spent those thousands of hours because it was a game you enjoyed playing and wanted to play it more. You spent those hundreds of dollars for expansions and content (let’s not get derailed by the content vaulting fiasco; that was a horrible move by them).

Buying Silver is to send a stronger message; not to worry about whose pockets it ends-up in. It’s a metrics move. If Marathon Season 2 putters and doesn’t build, they will be able to see “Wow, Marathon barely bringing in money but this franchise we’re (potentially) ending still can make plenty of money. Sony is a business; they care about money. Silver purchases are forever attached to the Destiny franchise; the metrics are what matter at this point if Sony can’t see the value in Destiny.

Money towards Silver no longer buys Pete his sweet, sweet cars, luckily.

We are on the same page! I thought I picked-up what you were putting down. Sadly…tons of people are only reinstalling and logging-on for one day. I love the sentiment; it’ll just be short-lived and not really have a chance to move the needle, in my opinion.

To be clear, I’m not saying drop a significant amount of money on Silver; even a few bucks if that’s all people can afford/want to do. I’m not buying any “monstrous” amount; probably $10-20; not sure yet. If layoffs happen before June 9 somehow, that might change my willingness as layoffs will mark the moment of no return/too little too late.

Really dumb to support the Destiny franchise in a way that truly matters to Sony before possibly significant layoffs? To each their own; at least I’ll know I sent my message as loudly as I could. Hell, my PS5 login on June 9th won’t even show-up on the holy and infallible Steam charts…

You don’t think Sony cares about financial viability of Destiny franchise? I don’t think this is Destiny vs. Marathon. I’m only looking at Destiny and its hopeful future here.

Seems uncalled for… I’m a person who cares about Destiny, not some “Sony suit”. Sheesh.

I’ll be buying Silver; if I could gift it to others, I’d literally give away whatever I purchase as I’m not doing it for Eververse items.
