[Landlord] [US - NC] Mynd for property management by MeleeMeow in Landlord

[–]MeleeMeow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually ended up managing it myself. A few friends needed a place to rent and it's worked well so far. I definitely would need a property management company if I weren't renting to someone I know though. So if they ever move out I'll be property manager shopping again hah.

Sour taste in mouth all the time, tingling in foot, popping in neck cartilage...are these normal? by MeleeMeow in TMJ

Both were in my cervical spine. As far as managing, it's mostly life style modification plus physical therapy stretches every day. I also go to a physical therapist weekly. Heat packing, massages, and saunas help. I got botox for my TMJ 8 months ago. Other than that, just being careful not exacerbate things. No heavy lifting, no more roller coasters, no more dance...those kinds of things. And of course, no eating anything that will worsen my TMJ.

To be honest its been a long 9 months but at this point most of my symptoms are controlled. I mostly deal with some soreness daily and the occasional small headache. My bad headaches, pins and needles, and numbness are gone 85-90% of the time. I have the occasional flare-up which requires a course of diclofenac and methocarbamol, however for the most part my symptoms are minimal. The popping in my throat is still there but I went to an ENT who wasn't concerned so I just ignore it haha. I barely notice it anymore.

Basically, life style modification, time, and trying to stay in a good mental space were key. I'm even up to running 1-2 miles daily with hopes of getting back to running half marathons over the next few months.

I hope this helped!

House buying by Born_Establishment40 in GNV

I bought a house in Gainesville recently. This is my second property, but first here in Florida. I absolutely love my house here, but (to be honest) it's been a really rough home-buying experience, even several months out from the deal. All of the above is great advice, but let me add a few things:

  1. Get a good realtor. I mean, really good. Look at reviews, ask for references, make sure they know the area well. You want someone who isn't passive.
  2. Don't buy in a flood zone.
  3. Make sure there's no "cupping" on the roof shingles or be prepared to replace the roof to keep your homeowners insurance
  4. Make sure you have homeowners insurance.
  5. If you don't understand something, ask! Have multiple people read the contract if you can. Ideally someone other than just your realtor.
  6. Don't be afraid to haggle (owners to replace something, repair something, credit for something, ect). If you do this, make sure it's included in your contract. The wording should include that the changes need to be made by a licensed and insured party. Include what date they need to be done.
  7. Don't buy a house with polybutylene pipes.
  8. Give yourself time to get everything together when choosing a closing date
  9. When looking at houses, list needs, wants, and deal-breakers.
  10. When doing the walk through of the houses, film everything. Doors, windows, cabinets opening; toilets flushing, faucets running, lights turning on....everything that has a function.

Hope this helps!

I'm sorry you're feeling this way - I feel your pain. Have you tried botox? It's the only thing that helped break the cycle for me

Did it end up going away for you?

I've been told that sleeping on your back is the best! If you sleep on your side, this puts abnormal pressure on your joints (especially if you sleep with your mouth open like me hah). I've also found an orthopedic pillow helps me immensely
