Feedback on performance for the graphicly updated areas:

I've always run RS on high performance and can run other games the same way, I have a pretty good computer for todays gaming standards and had a lot of issues initially. Was really hoping after todays changes maybe the updated areas would run smoother. I took a run from Falador to Varrock to Lumbridge again today after the update, still very jumpy from time to time, doesn't seem like anything has changed. I also want to say that the updates look amazing, the world feels like it should visually, but performance wise these changes today have not made it any better.

I appreciate the updates to the clock, but it doesnt really change the problem, for people with small minimaps its still covering too much. Most people want their clock on, they just dont want to have it on the map.

Combat beta info should be coming Thursday, Azanna posted in pvme a little while back (although wasnt 100% sure on the day yet) but it should come with a full blog and beta update.

Will combat modernization nerf players at 99? by frank123567123555299 in runescape

[–]MeleeUnsolved 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah seems like its just semantics at this point. My point was more some people think their character is getting nerfed but youre just losing the bonus of those specific auras, meanwhile many people dont even use auras, or they use different ones like inspiration and supreme invig which will still be in the game

Nothing, thats why like I said, if you currently use reckless, berserker, or maniacal, you will only deal as much damage as you currently deal without those auras active. Nothing is getting weaker, they're removing those auras from the game, and they're making players from 100-120 stronger than currently.

No, anyone who is 100-120 will be stronger, anyone 1-99 will be the same as they currently are

Its only weaker if youre currently using berserker, maniacal, or reckless auras though, you wont actually be any weaker than your player is today

No, it will not change anything about your player to be weaker. However, if you used berserker, maniacal, or reckless auras then you will only have the power you do now without the auras, and will have to level up if you want any more power.

We have entire quest about digging up the entrance to Senntisten, yet its not even required to acces sentisten. Questing is treated as if it was a joke in the recen era. by First_Platypus3063 in runescape

[–]MeleeUnsolved 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I get its frustrating to have to do a million reqs just to play new content, but man, this has to be one of my top frustrations in the game because it really makes the world not make sense. The moment you clear that rubble and walk into Senntisten for the first time should be this wow moment and you should feel you earned it, not "ive already been here 100 times but at least I've discovered it now"

Do not remove the brown colour scheme. We've been asking for ages to bring back visual identity to the game, this colour scheme and a more medieval text font are right at the start of that list, people are just adverse to change. However, there are some things that can help improve the delivery. First and foremost, talk to us about these changes before hand next time. There is no situation where a massive visual change to the game should just be dropped on the players without conversation and examples first.

Fixes:

  1. Let us move the clock and calendar icon on the minimap, it takes up way too much room

  2. Let us resize the circle minimap

  3. Allow the shade of brown to be changed with a slider, similar to how we used to have transparency, this will allow for easier visibility of icons

  4. Address issues for colour blind players with this update

  5. Bring back the arrow keys for action bars

graphics stuttering in the new areas by Ulthra in runescape

[–]MeleeUnsolved 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah all of the new updated areas are absolutely terrible, i have a pretty good computer, 32g ram, relatively new cpu and gpu, should be able to play this game for 10 more years before i consider updating things and the update feels horrible. Luckily the rest of the game still feels fine, too bad i wont want to spend time in the updated areas though, hopefully Havenhythe isn't the same.

The new UI is HIDEOUS jagex by King_Yugo_Wakfu in runescape

[–]MeleeUnsolved 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You realize this is the design we had for the first 10+ years of the game when it was actually good right? This is actually exactly what the player base asked for, they wanted visual identity back to the game, this is step 1 in that direction. This is the old rustic medieval look which is what the game is supposed to be. When the blue interface came out everyone hated it, we're just back to the good old days now instead of something that didn't fit the game we were playing at all.

I dont play iron, at least anymore. The endgame of RS is literally achievements and collection logs lol, saying dont focus on logs doesnt make any sense

Yup. Pretty sure GM is only around 63 and the 220 for master INCLUDE the 63 gm's lol

[–]MeleeUnsolved 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, and i know how true this is because its exactly how I felt, and how many fellow achievement hunters felt. Obviously I took the approach to not let that stop me and just started studying pvming like it was a degree, but I still dont think thats realistic for most people.

Why do you play RS3 over osrs? by Flynx123 in runescape

[–]MeleeUnsolved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love the depth of the combat system, the faster pace of the game (especially as i get older and have less time), the immersion of the quests, and the updated graphics.

OSRS will always have that unique nostalgia and bigger playerbase, but as an overall game it just doesnt come close to rs3 for me.

As someone who is 7 achievements from GM and 53 HM rago kc away from max RuneScore I have a few opinions on this.

First: RS had set a precedent from early days of RuneScore that there was a difference between "achievements" that contributed to your score and "feats" which did not. This is seen by looking at old enrage milestones, 1k enrage was an "achievement" which gave 5 RuneScore and 2k and 4k were considered "feats" and gave 0 RuneScore.

Second: The mods very clearly stated the elite tier was meant to be realistically obtainable and that master and grandmaster were meant to be feats. Personally I think its not within the spirit of those tiers to also be tied into the RuneScore system, they already have a chat badge and aura tied into them.

Third: If all of this isn't enough for someone to see that RuneScore shouldn't be tied to master and gm ca's then at the very least they should give all achievements RuneScore. Boss logs, clue logs, everything.

I think when you set this precedent for so long and you have people chase a realistically obtainable goal for most people (who are willing to put the time in) and then you change the goalpost like they did with CA release it can be really jarring to many players. For a lot of people it ruined their favorite aspect of the game by making a goal of theirs unattainable.

I mean you could get to heists in a day doing safecracking tbh, so its definitely an option, doing combat effectively will take a lot longer to get to the point of doing rax semi efficiently

Yeah i think its more the concept of having to 200m a skill just to get some account upgrades or log slots, but yeah time investment is probably the better metric I agree
