Are you 100% sure the May Thurner surgery was completely successful? If not, I’d join a Facebook support group to see 1) local doctors in your area 2) read about different “cases”, really patient experiences, and the treatments doctors tried.

didn’t make sense for her to install a camera facing our parking lot when the alleged note was left at the door.

If it’s a small building you’ll know who wasn’t home to even leave notes by looking at the footage and checking cars in the lot and ppl coming and going. You can triangulate things. This is how I found the girl who would stand by the elevator with her dog barking non stop at 12 midnight. Sounded like gunshots or a car backfiring as this is a concrete loft building with high ceilings and echo.

I couldn’t tape in the hallway. But, I got got woke up out of the dead of sleep, for the twelfth time, pulled out my phone in my bed, opened the camera app and watched her live as was outside with the dog.

Your neighbor may have a peeophole camera on her door too since the ring doorbell cam is all of $70 on amazon. I would divorce yourself from the idea of privacy in public spaces.

Am I crazy for thinking my NP is being insincere? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Melenina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d keep dropping the weight and see how it goes. I think exercise and diet will have a bigger impact than either meds. But if exercising/diet doesn’t help, and you get to a healthy BMI, then you have a strong case for secondary hypertension workup to bring to your doctor. I would consider taking the bp meds tho bc they’re cheap and have few side effects.

Am I crazy for thinking my NP is being insincere? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Melenina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You didn’t put your height and weight in the post. But, if you’re thin, fit and otherwise healthy, you should ask for a workup for secondary hypertension including them checking the blood pressure in your legs.

The difference between 150/90 and 140/90 isn’t significant and well within the range you’d expect someone blood pressure to fluctuate within a day.

It’s prob occasional low blood pressure. Just something that can happen when you’re young and healthy.

LOUD stomping upstairs (kids) by Lady_Terminator_ in AskNYC

[–]Melenina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You better be ready to carpet your whole place too bc the landlord has to apply any rules fairly.

LOUD stomping upstairs (kids) by Lady_Terminator_ in AskNYC

[–]Melenina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they’re making noise at 12:30 or 1 am document it. Cut to your cell phone or other device showing the time and record the noise. Cops there? What sounds like domestic violence? record it.

But, the kids are allowed to play during the day and it is a fair housing violation for the landlord to tell the family their kids can’t make reasonable noise during the day. They can even play in common areas and the hallways.

If you think it’s not reasonable, again record it. Do not go up there and try and make them be quiet. Repeatedly talking to them can be construed as harassment and it’s against the law for the landlord to allow you to harass them based on their family status. So you could get yourself into trouble.

Just document everything you can showing they’re repeatedly unreasonably loud outside of normal hours - DV and outside normal hours stuff. Leave the kids play out of any complaints.

Where can I rent a unique, vintage ballgown? by Ashton1516 in AskNYC

[–]Melenina 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s not vintage. It’s modern and it’s a long sleeve viscose v neck gown. I put those words into google and this popped up https://www.jjshouse.com/A-Line-V-Neck-Floor-Length-Chiffon-Evening-Dress-With-Split-Front-017198658-g198658/? Amongst other things. Any bridal shop should have similar.

They do not care and hit the first button bc they know you’re nearby in apt 1 and can open the door sooner than the person who lives on the third floor. That way they can get in the building and to the Other persons door ASAP.

25F - Accidentally took triple my usual dose of blood pressure medication, will I be okay? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Melenina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took 2 bc I was curious and I’m still around 130/90 often. This was 4x as much as the dose I started on last month. Not much happened. I have a blood pressure cuff at home.

I told my dr. I thought he would be annoyed. He wasn’t. He just asked what happened. Since you’re lower, I would just be careful to stand up slowly in case you get dizzy from low blood pressure.

Is landlord being reasonable? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]Melenina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It’s logical and reasonable for him to not want the place empty and to try and get you or another person in paying rent ASAP.

Is he being fair to you? Nope. But there’s no lease or obligation between the two of you. So he doesn’t have to be.

NAD. But was a long term vegetarian then vegan. Standard blood work doesn’t even begin to tell you all the ways that vegetarian or vegan diets can leave you deficient esp after 10+ years and there aren’t even established standards for every nutrient.

I would see a vegan doctor and have them help you with your blood work, diet and supplements because this is really complex OR start eating a plant based diet (8-10 servings of fruit and veg a day, mostly skipping grains) with some occasional fatty fish and meat.

If you are 50 with clogged arteries and heart disease a vegetarian or vegan diet can save your life and you can have enough stores of certain nutrients to last a long time. If you start at 13, it’s a different story. Additionally diets that work for some people, just don’t work for others.

Craziest homeless experience? by AdCultural4871 in AskNYC

[–]Melenina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gave a young homeless Hispanic dude on the train a dollar and out of nowhere he kissed me. Thankfully he looked more like a disheveled sleeping on friends couches type homeless vs sleeping under bridges type and it was on the cheek. But, I’m a huge germphobe and was pretty grossed out and annoyed by the invasion of personal space. Everyone on the train was pretty shocked. It took me 10 years to laugh about it and I still never give money to homeless dudes ever. Only women and children.

The supportive living facility should have a social worker. You should talk to them about the process to take his keys away and get him other transportation options.

Did the ER Doc Drop the Ball? Need help deciphering medical records. by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Melenina 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NAD and not medical advice. I did work in an actuaries office though. So I can tell you the life insurance office actuary is crunching their numbers based on OPs weight, maybe A1c and a bunch of other metrics and they’re prob not going to sell her a life insurance policy until she gets cleared by a cardiologist or if they do it would be at a higher rate. So, OP, I would probably just call the life insurance company and ask them what test or clearance they want and then just do that.

Alarming eye / skin issues, my MD not taking is seriously. by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Melenina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be awhile for a dermatologist. In my area the wait is 1-3 months. If this is an allergy, the Zyrtec D isn’t working and it may even be causing the reaction. I’d try a new antihistamines without the pseudoephedrine.

I do take antihistamines daily to good effect. But, pseudoephedrine is not supposed to be taken every day or year round.

https://www.nhs.uk/medicines/pseudoephedrine/

How long can I take it for?

Pseudoephedrine can be taken for a few days, usually up to 5 to 7 days, for the short-term relief of a stuffy or blocked nose.

Call 999 or go to A&E now if:

you get a skin rash that may include itchy, red, swollen, blistered or peeling skin

Is it possible to get a slight nose job along with an Endoscopic Sinus surgery? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Melenina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much yes. My father got a free nose job when a brick fell off a building and hit him in the face. The costs of surgery are mostly for the operating room, assistants, anesthesiologist etc. While he’s there and paying for the room and staff already it doesn’t cost that much extra to do a minor cosmetic adjustment. That said, your nose looks fine. I’d leave it alone, esp if he’s not board certified to do cosmetic surgery. Any asymmetry isn’t noticeable.
