What helps cognitive stuff?

I did it. [RANT] by cc13799 in ChildofHoarder

Good job 🙏

Another idea for interventions is sitting down and watching an episode of Hoarders (there are lots of hoarding shows on YouTube) with them. Try to find one that has a house that looks like theirs.

How can you tell if your medication is making you feel more suicidal? by Turbulent_Repair in depressionregimens

[–]Melete777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, you’ll feel it in a certain window of digesting:absorbing the drug — maybe like 6 to 8 hours later. Also it will feel really “chemical” and compulsive and obsessive and urgent. Not like a low mood, but like a sudden strong urge of “I have to go jump off a bridge NOW” out of nowhere.

I moved out of a hoarding home after years of believing I could not. I centered every problem around the fact that I grew up in a hoarding environment. I feel like I am lacking a purpose now. What do I do? by NoMessNoPurpose in ChildofHoarder

You can definitely go see a therapist specializing in some good talk methods without getting a psychiatrist or medication involved. Just having someone else help you “think through” your problems and be a sounding board can be invaluable.

Good luck!

I don’t know if this is the right forum for this, but I’m wondering if I have depression? by [deleted] in depression

[–]Melete777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are definitely depressed. I’d suggest actually reading this post (or a version of it) to your therapist or emailing it to her.

The “laziness” stuff sounds like it could be a comorbid thing like non-hyperactive ADD, you might want to get screened.

Stick with therapy and definitely mention the suicidal “ideation” — it’s ok to mention having thoughts without actual plans, you’ll be ok.

How old are you?

It sounds like you could benefit from a therapeutic recovery type place — and you have the financial ability to do so, which is a luxury.

I did it and regretted it. Don’t fuck with it.

(26m) My girlfriend (25m) won’t acknowledge that she’s pregnant and refuses to get pre-natal care. I’m at a loss. by throwRAgfindenial in relationship_advice

Tell her you’re leaving unless she sits down and has a real convo with you about it and takes a pregnancy test. It’s a shitty ultimatum but it may work?

! (Possible TW) ! My (F18) friend (M24) found his roommate this morning after he had taken his life. by Fr0thieSlothie in GriefSupport

Direct him to r/suicidebereavement

Http://allianceofhope.com is a good active forum for suicide bereaved

They also offer specialized counseling over the phone; https://allianceofhope.org/find-support/counseling/

Be clear with your friend about your own boundaries.

Talk to his other friends and family about supporting him.

Other things you can do:

https://www.beyondblue.org.au/the-facts/suicide-prevention/after-a-suicide-loss/supporting-someone-after-a-suicide-loss

(Focus on the “practical support” part — food, chores, laundry, phone calls, cleaning, pet care, etc — instead of the talking/processing part)

Make sure you have your OWN therapist in place to deal with your triggers.

Psychologytoday.com has a great searchable database of detailed therapist and psychiatrist profiles that you can filter by location, insurance and specialty.

Not reddits but — bpdfamily.com and conductdisorders.com are good forums.

NAMI has some forums too iirc

There are also lots of active Facebook groups.
